Who's comedy did you prefer from these two British comedic genius's?

John Cleese:

TV
Monty Python
Fawlty Towers
The Human Face

Movie
A Fish Called Wanda
Fierce Creatures

Rowan Atkinson:

TV
Blackadder
Mr. Bean
Dr. Who: The Curse of Fatal Death

Movie
Johnny English
Johnny English Reborn

Unrelated but I've just read that Manuel (Andrew Sachs) from Fawlty Towers died today aged 86 :(. RIP.

I voted Cleese, but almost went with Atkinson. They are both top quality, but I feel like Monty Python was better than anything Atkinson has ever done.

Fawlty Towers was overrated though.

British humor is so unfunny. I really don't get the appeal of it.

It's like listening to nerds trying to be funny.

Some is good, some is bad, like anything.

They do have a strange habit of putting men in women's clothing a little more often than I would think is neccessary.

If I'm being honest, I never cared for Monty Python And The Holy Grail, and I've tried 3 times to watch Life Of Brian but I always turn it off around the half hour mark. Cleese was great in A Fish Called Wanda, but that's all I've seen of his other than maybe a few other roles I'm forgetting about.

I'll always have a soft spot for Mr. Bean, I grew up watching that.

Holy Grail > everything

Black Adder was good tho.

BTW, for me I went for John Cleese. Monty Python and Fawlty Towers were amazing.

Seems like a words vs physical comedy preference.

I choose words over slapstick, so I go with Cleese.

Though I do have a great appreciation for Rowan and Mr. Bean.

Gotta be Atkinson for me. Blackadder is some GOAT level shit

I've never really rated Cleese in anything tbh

Check out Blackadder bro. Atkinson has hilarious delivery when he gets dat material

Maybe start with series 2-4 mate

I like the first series, but it's definitely the odd one out and is probably best viewed after series 2-4
I noticed first seasons rarely hit their stride. I go back to rewatch shows and wonder how it got me hooked after watching the first season. Thanks, man.

Rowan. Also i don't think Cleese is a particularly nice individual.
Blackadder is amazing, except for series 1.
Fawlty Towers is great.

Monty Python the series is much funnier than the films imo.

Someone mentioned British humour. I find almost all American comedy really unfunny. It's far too safe. I love dirty, disgusting humour and the poms are good at that.
Also love Spike Milligan, Peter Cook and Dudley Moore too.

I favour John Cleese, he's still hilarious on Twitter. My 90 year old Dutch grandma thought Mr Bean was the funniest shit ever so I did really enjoy Atkinson when I was younger.

You should give Fawlty Towers a go, absolute fucking brilliant. Start on the Germans episode, legendary.

Also, Fierce Creatures is the follow up to A Fish Called Wanda.
