Joe Schilling sucker punching drunk guy

People arguing the "fella made a move" angle would have a point if it were them in the position. Or me.

But not an ELITE kickboxer.

Even the guy that everyone at the gym lets get off a punch or two in sparring because he tries hard would have been a missmatch here.

It's not even close. He beat up an untrained drunk douchebag in a bar because he looked at him bad after being pushed. It's exactly as bad as the headline. Anyone who can't see that is blind.

@TheOneAboveAll3 and @WalterSobchak going at it.

Whatever dude, I dont want to argue this bullshit. Guys like you aint never been to my hood. you have no idea how hard core we are up in here. Youre soft and youre just projecting youre softness on us. Have you ever lived in the projects? I have. Been all over the worst projects up in brooklyn. So while you were ducking bullets on COD I was ducking them over hear in downtown brooklyn. And while you were playing Tyson Knockout, I was facing off against one of the meanest tough guys on my hood almost on a weekly basis. Its either you Knocked them out or they knock you out. Luckily for me I won almost all fights. Thats what we do here.... Thats all we do....

Yes but most other elite MMA fighters agree that Joe's response was warranted. Go look at who liked or commented about it

In any event a mere appeal to authority is not helpful in a debate - we need the reasons why they did so. Furthermore most martial artists and mma fighters may not know enough about the law on self defense an dtherefore their conclusions may be in error due to this. In addition some of them may have dysfunctional attitudes and egks as in the view that annoying civilians deserve to be punished by being beaten.

You can go to Joe's Instagram and look.

This isn't about the law. The person I responded to said he should know better. Yet actual fighters disagree

Oh come on dude.

Maybe he deserved some painful karma for being a scumbag, but a pro fighter can’t unload on some guy in the street just because of a few words or posturing.

Any pro fighter should 100% be scrutinized in these situations because they have the ability to seriously injure everyday people. He didn’t even attempt to avoid the situation.

I am not on most social media so if u could copy and paste their comments that would be helpful..
It is actually a lot to do with the intersection between the law and body mechanics of striking. Mma fighters may be expert at the latter but they may not be good in the former. As well some of them..may have arrogant or bad attitude towards untrained unfit people

A pro fighter isn't held to s higher standard that's irrelevant. That's like saying being big means you can't punch someone smaller than you

They all saw the same video and felt his response was warranted due to the aggressive motion the former inmate made

Being held to scrutiny, doesn’t mean they should be treated differently when it comes to defending yourself, but if it’s determined you’re not defending yourself, then be prepared to be held to a different standard. In a court of law, any trained fighter can be charged with “assault with a deadly weapon” if they use their abilities in an improper way. This law is not in place because of prejudice or favoritism.

Bottom line is if a fighter decides to let his hands go, he better be able to clearly prove he’s defending himself, or he’ll wind up being judged by that different standard and end up with a much harsher sentence and I for one, don’t think Schilling demonstrated he was defending himself.
