Joe Rogan jump the shark in the weidman rockhold promo?

Joe just said that the fight was competitive and made it sound as though weidman was even winning that fight until he threw that ill fated wheel kick.

joe said in the promo:

"up until wheel kick, it was very competitive, and we saw weidman push the action and impose his pace and his determination on rockhold--that one wheel kick changed everything--that one kick that he threw".

i watched that fight, and i thought it was very clearly a lopsided win for rockhold.

had rockhold not finished him, i was expecting a few 50-44 decisions being read.

am i wrong?

was the chris winning?

was it even close?

is the chris the next "once in ever weidman" according to joe?

is chris still his father's son?

I forget who was winning each round but yeah it was a close fight till he threw that kick, got taken down and dominated. Then again lol.

That is not even close to the craziest hyperbole that has come out of Joe Rogan.

Weidman won the first, and was picking up steam and grabbing the momentum in the 3rd before the kick, so he's not wrong. Rockhold took a clear victory in the second though.

the wheel kick was only thrown at 10% with a broken foot, and his worst camp ever, while not taking the fight seriously

don't forget the hurricane he lived through previously.

I thought the strangest part of the entire fight is when Weidman started throwing kicks back at Rockhold, they looked awkward as fuck, and both guys seemed uneasy about it. But Rockhold really wasn't liking it at all, and it was clear they were hurting him. I think that might have been what gave Chris the confidence to throw spinning shit, lmao.

Rockhold dominated round 2 with his kicks if I recall correctly, and somewhere near the end of the second or the start of the 3rd, Weidman was like "hey, those kicks fucking hurt man, I'm going to try that shit." He really looked like he was kicking for his first time in a fight, but it started to work.

Strange fight all around for both guys really. I'm pretty excited to watch again.

He works for the UFC. Which is a promotion. He's paid to help promote the fights.

You lack credibility as a fan if you still don't understand this.
The only issue is he's hyperbolic with everything. Just listen to his podcast. I like Joe, don't get me wrong. However, he's the kind of guy that'll say shit like, "Jimi Hendrix is easily the greatest guitarist ever. I mean, who else is there?" -when he only knows the names of two guitar players.

joe lacks credibility and has a penchant for hyperbole>????

also, the fight was competitive the in the sense that weidman wasnt yet knocked out, but i dont think chris had luke in any trouble, hadnt landed anything all that significant, and hadnt won a round.
Lost credibility with who? You? That means nothing and as far as the fight goes I think it was close till the mounted beatdown. Neither were in trouble before that point in the fight.

That would be his opinion. I think yngwie and buckethead are the best but some might prefer eddie or ect..... opinions man, he just has a lot of enthusiasm and it's how you perceive it.

An opinion had while knowing so little about something is ridiculous. The "I mean, who else is there?" sentence eludes to him asking who else there is while having no fucking idea. And by the way, Guthrie Govan is the greatest guitarist of all time.

See that's your opinion. I disagree

So?

Buckethead! !!!!!!!

It was a kind of even fight....then rockhold changed the momentum before the spinning kick...Rochold was winning.

I hate that rogan created this narrative that weidman was winning before the spinning kick...it's pure fucking bullshit.

The momentum had changed before that.
It's not pure bullshit. Weidman had the first, rockhold the second. I felt weidman was taking control again in the third until the spinning back kick. Maybe he wasn't winning the 3rd prior but it was close enough you can't calling it fucking bullshit.

What gets me is a lot if posters in other threads acting like it was pure domination from the moment it began by rockhold. People act like he barely even had to try.

I thought it was a good fight and though I hate instant rematches I did want to see them matched up again one day.

The way you guys get rustled over the things Rogan says IN A FUCKING FIGHT PROMO never ceases to amaze me.

It's a commercial. The reason it exists, the only purpose it serves is to create interest for people to buy the fight. That's it. Finito. End of story.

The endless dissection of a commercial is like a bunch of people sitting around discussing the nuances of Geico's 15 minutes could save you 15% or more on car insurance.

It was competitive. It was close before the kick. I think that Weidman winning the first round is totally plausible.

Although whether Weidman is still Weidman's dad's son is still up for debate.

You know what's odd? Before that moment I would have never questioned that Weidman is his dad's son. It wouldn't have even registered to me if there was a spot on some countdown where some old guy was talking and the caption was "Weidman's father".

Now though? I feel like if Weidman was still irrevocably his son that he wouldn't have even mentioned it and it would have been obvious. It's like, why did you even bring it up, Weidman Sr., when literally no one was questioning the veracity of that statement? I don't know anymore.

I like your avatar, so I'll let that slide. Honestly, I haven't listened to too much buckethead. I remember hearing some of his stuff and thinking, meh.
Check out two songs. It's not for everyone but catch the live ones, soothsayer on youtube and seige engine. He caters to the kind of style I like so that's why he's my fav. Let me know if you give those a listen. Guthrie is a monster just not my cup of tea.

The lady doth protest too much, methinks...

And also, "STILL my boy"?

Seriously, who would even expect someone to abandon their son after they lost a fight? Who would really think that it was a live option?

Joe speaks as though Weidman just "gave" rock hold the kick. As if Weidman said.. Here, grab this leg...
