News Joe Rogan explains why Islam Makhachev is better than Khabib Nurmagomedov

Until he runs into a guy with great TDD, and the fight takes place on the feet like against Tibau.

Depends on the matchup.
1. Khabib was only 23 in the Tibau fight. He clearly lost that fight, but he was very young and still pre-prime.
2. Khabib fought plenty of good wrestlers, e.g., Shalorus, Trujillo, Healy, RDA, Johnson, Gaethje. He had no issues getting them down.
3. Khabib dominated Iaquinta on the feet, who was primarily a striker. And he did well on the feet against Conor. Khabib was awkward but effective on the feet (because of the wrestling threat).

He's more well rounded, but Khabib was better at the thing they both do best. His chin and pressure were much greater, and Islam having better striking makes him less relentless. He'll give up on the TD if you stop the initial attempt and just strike with you and give you some space, so guys have chances with Islam even they haven't been able to capitalize on them. Khabib was just all over you and would beat the shit out of guys on the ground before subbing them, Islam doesn't really throw much gnp, so he'll finish guys on the ground with subs but he doesne't pulverize them first.

Khabib's unshakeable focus, top control, and nasty ground and pound separates him from Islam. Islam is more talented, but he doesn't have Khabib's intagibles. Khabib was a dog, which is the one thing I don't see in Islam.

Who is Joe? <lol> Dude claimed Rousey was the GOAT.

Islam, Javier, and Poirier all say Khabib is better.

Footage says Khabib is better.

Career stats say Khabib is better.

What career stats? The only stat Khabib has over Islam is that 0 in the loss column. Everything else is in favor of Islam. 2 division champion and far better wins on his record.

Round for round wiining %,

Islam struggled more at all points of his career including againt B level fighters like Bournoui, Wade, Poirier, starched by Martins. He got hurt many times and had far less 10-8 rounds than Khabib.

Khabib had a much statistically higher level of dominance which is why all the guys in the know including Islam himself will tell you he's just Khabibs rag doll. He can't do anything to stop him.

I'd absolutely pick Islam to beat Khabib.

Seems like about as bad a matchup as you can get for Khabib.

That's a fantasy match up.

What we actually know, is that Islam has done better in MMA than Khabib in terms of accomplishments.

Obviously it's cool to speculate who would win a fight between the two, but it's just that. Speculation and fanbois chiming in.

We know that Islam has done better than Khabib. We have no idea as to who would win a fight between the two.

Putting Poirier as a B level fighter is absurd. Khabib's resume is far thinner than Islam's. He never went up in weight and doesn't have a title in a different weight class. Using dominance over lesser opponents is a poor way to compare between fighters. If we're going to start using that as a metric, then Jon Jones struggling against Reyes and Gus 1 should prove other fighters to be superior.

Khabib's top wins:
Dustin
Conor
Justin
RDA
Barboza

Islam's top wins
Volk 2x
Charles
Dustin
JDM
Arman

Islam's resume clears.
