This makes sense. Norm was a consumate professional and a once-in-a-lifetime comedian.
Joe is without exageration one of the worst stand ups I've ever listened to. I've tried my best, I've wanted to like him, but he just isn't funny on stage.
Norm was also quick to distance himself from being taken too seriously as a public figure - it's part of the reason why his illness wasn't made public, because he was a comic/entertainer, which he took very seriously but he wasn't trying to be a philosopher/influencer. He also talked about the importance of being the dumbest guy in the room if you want to be funny. This is like the opposite of Joe who gives lip service to being " just a dumb guy, askin questions" but obviously Joe thinks he's got it figured out.
Contrast this to the absolutely cringeworthy moments in Joe's podcast where he goes on and on about how he hones his craft, sharpens his jokes and how it's taken years to develop the wisdom necessary for this, despite being a truly awful comic. I think Norm would be pretty uninterested in a conversation with Joe. He'd probably even have found him gauche and arrogant.
That would be one of the GOAT Rogan episodes if that was to happen.
