Crime Joe pardons Hunter

For all the screaming some of y'all do about "threat to democracy dictator level", it's mind-blowing you're legitimately fine with Trump AMPLIFYING whatever he'd do in the next 4 years with the power of pardoning anyone in the future for anything they may be accused of. Because if a future pardon is given out to the Cheney group of the world that "covers stuff they'd be accused of" this is the worst take of 2024 imo. This is LITERALLY telling Trump to do infinitely worse in 2028. It's better to pardon someone for murder than it is to create a new precedent for Trump that he can future pardon his buddies in this manner. Or any future president after him. I don't think it's even close. This is the difference between thinking in the moment and thinking of long term impact.
Beggin' yer pardon.

About my earlier reply to you, I missed that you were talking about pardons for future events. I think that's obviously a ridiculous idea so I hope/expect there would be jurisprudence obviating such a tactic. I would bet a nickel such a thing never gets past the "musing out loud" stage. I guess we'll see.

Unfortunately I think the Hunter pardon will stick out far more in the public eye because its a father pardoning his son which gives off a worse impression of nepotism. I'm a big critic of Trump and even I only remembered about the Charles Kushner pardon when the Hunter pardon became a story.

Oh yeah of course they're horrible but in MMAisGod's defense he's not one those guys and he's arguing against this pardon because he thinks it might embolden Trump to wield the pardon power more egregiously. Idk that I buy it but its not nonsensical.

Oh I wasn’t meaning to imply that about @MMAisGod, he’s not that type of person and I totally get where he is coming from.

@Islam Imamate @BFoe just got back and the more I think of it maybe it is just a posture like Andy is saying above, like the "it sounds good but won't happen" type of thing. After talking this with y'all now I actually hope it does happen for the sole reason of it getting shut down in writing eliminating the possibility of it being an option in the future. The other worst case scenario is it not happening and then it happens in 2028 because it gets approved by the SC because Trump is the one to push it through lol.

I don't think its unrealistic to expect people to substantiate their claims. When I make those types of accusations I try to back it up with reference to at least one or two posts instead of lazily making accusation I know I have no intention of ever substantiating. On top of that even if you felt it was asking too much you could just concede you can't substantiate your claim instead of getting defensive and accuse me of defending Hunter when I did nothing of the sort.

The interesting thing is in using the search function I found out you like to use this deflection occasionally and yet despite claiming a bunch of people said those horrible things about Baron you can only produce one guy, Peter Fonda, who apologized shortly afterwards. Its a complete nothingburger and yet you want to blame the entire left for the one statement made by Peter Fonda and I don't think that's fair at all.
This is like that other thread. I pointed out that hacks often assume that the MSM and politicians are always insisting everything is rosy, when in fact, the news has an extreme negativity bias, and politicians (especially on the left) are usually talking about how things are going to shit. But people assume it so hard they really feel like they see it. She's assuming that people must have said that, and the fact that there's no evidence of it is not really going to make an impact.

The optics are amazing. Dementia Joe doesn’t even know what is happening and his staffers and Hunter just shitting all over the institutions and norms that create our democracy.

Imagine having voting for this shit bag dumpster fire and believing any of the mainstream media after the last decade. Uhh, hello, space cadets? Come back to orbit and reality. Lmao!

Seems Biden’s White House considering more and more these blanket pardons. Just gives Trump all the most ammunition to go after these freaks

Imagine the constitution all crisis when Liz Cheney is already pardoned for when she is found guilty of deletin lg and hiding evidence. Adam schiff guilty of lying under oath and abuse of power. Hmm

Hey just checking in. Any thoughts on why it’s backdated?

What’s your theory? And what's your theory about how asking the same dumb question over and over makes sense? From my perspective, it just confirms my view that you have a learning disability.

Im out here hoping others join in on asking!
I think this illustrates the hack mindset perfectly. You're not trying to think through issues. You just see your role as enforcing GOP orthodoxy with social pressure. It's signaling to people who care that if they get out of line, they can expect organized harrassment.

So some let Jack know I provided links, im quite sure has me on ignore, and another poster provided another link, so no, I didn’t assume anything.

So they can prevent fraudulent investigations from that period. Same reason for a pardon for any other time period.

I mean, you can complain about it, but I fail to see how you guys think this is a brilliant gotcha question.

I really don’t see what all of the fuss is about. It’s Hunter fucking Biden…

Are we all not in agreement that this guy is gonna fuck up again within the next 5 years? Especially when his father is no longer around..

Hunter didn’t escape shit imo, this pardon just prolonged the inevitable..

I'm shocked!

Ok not really.

Anyone could have seen this coming and tbh, most people in Biden's shoes would have done the same. What they probably wouldn't have done is fucking lie about it since the beginning. That's not a good look for anyone.

The true and correct answer is that Hunter is the only guy who could directly tie Joe to the influence peddling in Ukraine and China. If Hunter has a blanket pardon, he can never be used to roll on his father.

Now the tricky thing is that now that he has an official pardon, if he were to testify in front of congress, he would not be allowed to take the 5th. If he insisted on taking the 5th anyway, he could still go to jail for contempt of congress.
