Jiu JItsu schools in New Jersey

Any schools in middlesex county?

Does anyone have feedback of Brunswick Bjj in East Brunswick?

Depending on what you're looking for, you might want to check out Zealous Nation if you're in Middlesex County. zealousnation.com

It's an MMA gym, though, not a BJJ school. As far as I know, all of the grappling there is no gi, and it's not traditional BJJ by any means. The owner/head instructor, Oleg Savitsky, is a former combat Sambo fighter (he fought Fedor in Sambo) and had a few MMA fights as well (lost to Tim Boetsch). Lots of focus on leg locks. When I was there (has been a few years) they had submission grappling classes and then "MMA grappling" classes that also involved striking on the ground, etc. They also have MT classes and boxing classes, which I think are included in the membership fee. There is a full cage and full boxing ring.

They also have judo a couple nights per week, which is the only time gis are worn (or at least that's how it used to be). I think the judo classes are separate and apart from everything else and I have no experience with that.

Everyone was really cool there when I attended. I stopped training there due to an injury (unrelated to training) and then a long illness. For a variety of reasons I'm looking for a more traditional BJJ school where a gi is worn right now. But for anyone looking for more of a MMA-oriented gym in the Middlesex area, I recommend checking it out.

Dunno where you are at but my gym is in Edgewater Park, NJ.. South Jersey-ish on the Delaware river side.

Our head instructor is Professor Brian McPherson - a 2nd Degre blackbelt. Got his BB from Ricardo Almeida, 1st degree from Renzo, and 2nd Degree from Daniel

www.jbmbjj.com

We have morning and night classes, as well as a full gym and cardio room, locker rooms, and saunas.

Drop in and try us out for free!

Thanks for the info, Brad. That's a little farther than I want to go (due to job, wife, kid duties, etc.), but if I'm ever down that way I'll check it out.

Thanks again.

Renzo Gracie Northvale - Carl Massaro: 2nd degree black belt under Renzo and John Danaher.

Dude is extremely talented and has incredible BJJ, MMA/wrestling, and really good Judo.
Tough room to roll with; we've got a few brown, about 15 purple, 2 black belts who drop in to roll (not instructors), and a chunk of white/blue. Holler!

You can't go wrong with Brunswick BJJ... I stayed in Brunswick for a week last year and got to train there. Garry is a excellent instructor. I highly recommend training there.

I highly recommend checking out Silver Fox BJJ in Saddle Brook NJ on Market Street. Karel Pravec is a Blackbelt under Renzo Gracie that still trains to this day! Definitely highly technical!

Being literally right across the Delaware river, I've competed with mostly new jersey schools, and had a chance to watch a lot of their upper belts. The last couple tournaments I went to I saw a brown from silver fox bjj really turn it up during the couple matches I watched..its in north jersey, but if its comps you're looking for, that might be a good place to check out ...damn I just realized this thread was a month old!
