Jiu JItsu schools in New Jersey

David Adiv: Gracie Humaita,NJ.

This guy. I've been to his seminars and will attend another this year. He get's into Jiu Jitsu deep, I'm talking like Zen deep. I learned more in his 3-4hr seminar than 6 months of training. He get's into the mental game and movement and nature of the human mind. I'm always blown away with the depth of knowledge he has.

NJ United in Totowa. A fair amount of good schools in the North Jersey area as someone above laid out.

Looking to find and bjj schools in south jersey. (exit 1 turnpike / 295 ) Did know if anyone could help with some info. The only 2 i can find are about an hour away.

My favorite professor from Serra BJJ, Paul Fahey, has a school in Fairfield. He's an amazing teacher and a very legit black belt. If you live near there I would recommend going to his school. His teaching style is reminiscent of Ryan Hall, he's very in depth and gives a lot of theory about body mechanics and causes and effects. Check it out.

Hassett's BJJ, a Balance school, should be no more than 30-35 minutes away. And if you're that far south, you can always go into Delaware. Ken Primola's school in Wilmington comes to mind.

Thanks!

Online now Hassett's is about 45 min away. A school called Flow is near me. Has anyone been or know anything about it?

Flow is Primola's school. You'll be hard-pressed to find a better instructor. He's about as dedicated as they come. Some people think he has kind of an abrasive personality, but you should check him out and see for yourself.

Any schools in middlesex county?

Does anyone have feedback of Brunswick Bjj in East Brunswick?

Anyone from the Balance family is ultra-high quality.

If you're in central Jersey near Fort Dix I would recommend Pat Vacanti.

Even if you don't sign up there, I highly recommend dropping by for a class. The style is pretty unique and very old school. Pat is a Migliarese brown belt but rolls like a high level black belt. His attention to details in cleaning up your technique is insane. He is like a jiu-jitsu Yoda.

I think Brunswick BJJ is an Almeida school, and is now run by Gary Tonon, so definitely worth a look. Check out Advanced Martial Arts in North Brunswick as well. It's run by Brian Katz, a 4-stripe brown last I heard. Advanced doesn't have any big name affiliations but the school's been around about 10 years. There's a nice variety of ages and belts.

Thanks, I appreciate the help, i'm definitely thinking about checking out Brunswick Bjj, it is the shortest commute as I live in Perth Amboy.

I train at Princeton BJJ and I love it. Art Keintz and Emily Kwok are awesome professors and we have a great group, lots of upper belts and a few people that compete. Everyone is really open and willing to show you a technique or do extra work on something you are trying to learn. The school is part of Marcelo's association.

We play dodgeball every Sunday as warm up, so thats the best day to come for a drop in.

There is also Sakura BJJ if you are up north in Morris County. http://sakurabjj.com/v2/

I haven't gotten up there to train yet (soon I promise), but they've come a couple of times to train with us and every one was awesome. Chris Civello, an MG Brown Belt is the head instructor, and Alex Kennedy, a Purple Belt is his assistant. The comp team members that have come to train with us have been intense and very sound technically. Lots of young guys that wear me the F out.

Central Jersey? Like, near New Brunswick?

Brian Katz has a school in North Brunswick. Advanced Martials Arts. It's BJJ, Muay Thai, and Ricardo Romero (ROTC) trains there. Romero beat James McSweeny (from the last season of TUF) right before he went on the show.

Does anyone here currently train at Advanced MMA (http://www.advancedbjj.com/) in North Brunswick or Maximum Athletics MMA (http://maximumma.com/) in North Plainfield (which appears to be affiliated with Alliance)?

Looking to get back into BJJ after several years of sitting on my ass. Interested in any information anyone has about training at either gym, prices, etc.

Thanks!

Although it's in north Jersey, Performance Jiu Jitsu is a great school. Half the black belts in northern NJ received theirs from Lou Vintaloro.

I'm pretty sure he closed his school and moved to California.
