Thanks any response is much appreciated.

What part of jersey are u from?

There's a good BJJ school in Marlboro (central NJ) right off of rt 9.
Elite MMA.

I train Muay Thai there. they have a good BJJ program as well.

Theres a great school in Cherry Hill as well. If ur interested in serious training, i suggest you visit that school too.

okay thanks. will definitely look into it. From central jersey sorta. really looking to just go anywhere with good jiu jitsu though.

also looking to be able to train no gi too. and atleast 3 classes a week

Central Jersey? Like, near New Brunswick?

Brian Katz has a school in North Brunswick. Advanced Martials Arts. It's BJJ, Muay Thai, and Ricardo Romero (ROTC) trains there. Romero beat James McSweeny (from the last season of TUF) right before he went on the show.

yeah I've heard of him. Sorta near New Brunswick. I'll definitely add it to my list of places to check out. thanks bro.

TS - if you end up around north jersey, check out Mrkulic BJJ Academy in Montclair. You can check out the site for all his credentials, however if you want a quick overview in one post:

- Mrkulic is BB under Royler, ADCC 2003 competitor, place in Mundials, etc.
- Handful of browns / other black belts, lots of purples and boatload of blue belts for you to train with, I would say around 70% of the school competes

Hope this helps!

YOu may want to check out Edson Carvalho in Paterson NJ. Ive met him before, he is a really nice guy and anybody who has taken a punch from Igor and lived must be tough as hell!

I would highly recommend Ricardo's school. If you want something in Northern NJ, I am Renzo Gracie Black Belt in Lodi, NJ. My school is relatively new (3 years), but my students tend to do well in tournaments (recently one of my guys got 2nd place in ADCC World Championship in Barcelona, and one of my brown belts won the no-gi Pan Ams). You can check out more info on my web site:
Silver Fox Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Lodi New Jersey - Home and the results in the News Section.

Silverfox in Lodi is a great school with a handful of brown belts and a very technical instructor. Training Grounds in Westwood is a fairly new school with a technical instructor.
As far as Mrkulic's school, I am not aware of their school having a handful of brown belts or any other black belts besides the instructor. I do know 70% of the adults do not compete in the local tournaments because I compete at them...do have a lot of kids competing though.

Cool to see you on here. My instructor Roberto Maia (Boston BJJ/ GB Boston) was wearing a rashguard from your school the other day. I was gonna google your school but now i know about it :)

Definitely check out Brian's place. He's not a big name or anything, but he runs a good school. Romero had a rough time in UFC but the guy's a great grappler.

Almeida is great but expensive. You also won't be able to roll no-gi until you're a purple, and even then he doesn't offer many no-gi classes. He also may be a little far south for you.

Whippany, NJ has the AMA Fight Club Home | Professional Training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Whippany NJ they also have a school in Pompton Lakes

Renzo Gracie Black Belt Jamie Cruz teaches the classes along with a killer brown belt and rising mma star Sean Santella Sean "Shorty Rock" Santella MMA Stats, Pictures, News, Videos, Biography - Sherdog.com

I teach a BJJ for MMA class every Monday

The school has some of the best talent in the northeast as far as MMA goes (Jim and Dan Miller, Charlie Brenneman, Adlan Amagov and a ton of other beasts)

Also, if you're interested in striking they have one of the best muay thai minds in the world Kaensak

I've been going to AMA for 4 years and always have a great time and learn a ton. I'm a black belt in BJJ and started training in 1999, I've been around the way and can tell you AMA is top notch.

good schools in new jersey? ama in whippany, paul carnicella in newark, efrain rojas in clifton, silver fox in saddle brook, ricardo almeida in hamilton, mike mrkulic in montclair, cutting edge in harrison, savarese in lyndhurt, bittencourt in newark, mma university in little falls, I know im forgetting alot of them but you cant go wrong with any of these. these are not fake schools, we have gone to all of them personally (except ricardo which a good friend of ours goes to and testifies its great and university but the head instructor was at carnicellas for a while and he is great). these are all great schools. I have a whole list of crap schools we have tried but I will not post that because its just not cool to do that. I apologies to anyone who knows me that I forgot to mention.
