Marc Goddard is an ass ref, he has ruined multiple matchups I was excited for with premature stoppages. Jiri was doing good against Pereira , until he got clipped, but upon rewatching the video multiple times, and after a few years, the stoppage still doesn't sit right with me. Jiri gets clipped in every single fight, it was nothing new for him, and he ended up landing in a relatively safe position, which he has been in dozens of times over his career and recovered. Marc Goddard stopped the fight the second Jiri's back hit the floor without even analyzing the position and situation for Jiri. Marc Goddard is a bad referee and he ruined that fight, and altered the course of history for the LHW division.

And then for the rematch, Jiri had already taken heavy damage in the first fight and I'd assume it played a big factor in Jiri's performance and Pereira had a better game plan as well.

Sure I want to see Pereira vs Jiri 3, but that stoppage took a lot out of Jiri and took his career off course, but Jiri went through literal killers row to get back to the 3rd fight and i'm all for it.

I disagree.

If Marc didn't stop the fight, maybe there would be a butterfly effect where Jiri loses to Rakic, Hill, Rountree
from taking too much head damage.

What I will say though is that there were times in the first fight where Jiri had a decent chance of winning.
Like when he had Pereira against the cage.

If Jiri wants to win he has to come out as aggressive as Alex did against Ank. First minute go for Ko. You can’tsit and pick shots with him. Get in the pocket early throw elbows and get it ugly and if you get KO’d so be it

I think Jiri went limp while taking those elbows to the head but woke up again when (or before) hitting the ground.
But by then, Goddard had already made his decision.

Hard to say it that the stoppage "altered the course of history for the LHW division" since Pereira had won the first round before TKOing Jiri (even if premature) and went on to again win the first round of the second fight (leaving Jiri in his ass by the end of the round) and destroying him in the first seconds of the second round.

So, as history has proven, the chances of Jiri recovering from that assault and turning the fight around would be close to none.

Good stoppage IMO. Like other 2, which some people question. Perreira had already 3 questionable stoppages: Ank, Jiri 1 and Izzy. Tendency?

Jiri is my favorite fighter. It was a fine stoppage. As previous people mentioned, it's allowed him to continue to fight his style and win.
If he didn't stop it and lets Jiri take a career changing beating then we could be seeing Jiri come off of multiple KO losses.

I dont really question them. Even if they arent outright knockouts, they are uninterrupted beatdowns and thats how some stoppages are.

He's never beating Poatan. Ever.
I think he can.

He kind of got a little too wild. too comfortable, in the exchange where he got dropped. He could have done better there. He already got better head movement. But he has to back Poatan up. He cant just stand there waiting like he did in the second fight.

The main issue though is the kicks. He leans heavy on that lead leg, and that makes it hard for him to defend any kicks. So he's got to knock Poatan out before he takes too many of those.

This is what boxing got right, they dont have to matchup the same guys over an over because they are limited to a handful of matchups only, more titles and more fighters, Jiri will have to continue fighting top contenders until the belt switches hands or there are no more people for them to fight, he already lost twice to the same guy and very convincingly on both fights.

The only way I see Jiri vs Alex 3 happening is if Jiri fights Ank and finishes him.

Why is this far fetched? They fucking let Jiri be ringside and filmed his reaction for Poatan vs Ank.

They know its a fight people will watch, and violence is assured.
