What I’m saying is that they were leveraging a bully pulpit and it was inappropriate. The FCC, as an entity, didn’t do anything.

The actual entity of the FCC didn’t get involved. I also explained why it’s not a violation of the first amendment
 
To be honest, I don't think he should have been cancelled over this. If anything, I think he should have been scolded for CRYING the day after Trump won back in November. How the hell you gonna cry during your monologue???

The FCC chair made a statement threatening Nexstar. The very next day Kimmel was put on "leave" or whatever. I don't give af about him. I don't watch.

This is a clear violation of the gov't pressuring an agency to fire someone.

It cannot be more clear. The FCC made a threat. Nexstar in turn shitcanned Kimmel.
 
The talk the other day about the Dixie Chicks had me thinking how they've kinda gotten abuse from both sides.

First, it was speaking out about being embarrassed coming from same state as Neocon manipulated fool W Bush, and folks started steamrolling their CDs.

Then they had to change their name from "The Dixie Chicks" to "The Chicks" since the word "Dixie" was too sensitive. And there were some talks of changing their name to just "The", since "The Chicks" could be argued as misogynist.

It's too bad they didn't call Kirk something negative so that it could be like a third time cancellation.

Funny thing is they're just a group of "normie" country-pop singers.

If trump makes a public threat about taking action against a company, would you be arguing the government didn’t actually get involved?

He makes threats literally all the time without official actions. It’s called a bully pulpit.

It was a threat using the power of the federal government. A threat any business would have to take seriously. They can’t make statements about things they have official government responsibility for and then claim it’s not in an official capacity. That’s not a serious stance.

I’m gonna try to approach this from another angle to see how we do-

First question – are tv stations allowed to air shows with people on them saying things that are clearly not true, or would that go against title 47?

If yes- cool, we agree.

If no- how do you explain all the lies gleefully broadcast by federal employees and pundits every day?

I agree it was a threat. I agree they had to take it seriously. It’s called a bully pulpit.
