Am I crazy or is he saying the most important thing for Kimmel to do was absolve MAGA?
No, but that would've been vastly better than either saying, depending on your interpretation of Kimmel:

- Robinson was MAGA and MAGA was trying to distance themselves from that (lie)
- It was low of MAGA to point out Robinson was a leftist and that's why Robinson murdered Charlie (gross)

There's nothing to absolve MAGA for. MAGA was holding an open public debate when Robinson instead assassinated Kirk. Would be nonsensical by Kimmel, but that's par for the course anyways.

Kinda skipped right over that part, and which group was telling and encouraging him to shoot Kirk. The actual issues here and who killed Kirk.

Again, even in a charitable interpretation of Kimmel's comment it amounts to "Republicans pounce" which is how the media ALWAYS frames every bad issue for them. The story is never about their bad issue, it's the Republicans noticing the bad issue and just breezes right past what it was.

If Kimmel wanted to give an update to his audience about the recent revelations on the assassination of Charlie Kirk that arose over the weekend he could've done so. He instead said the Republicans were at a "new low" for noticing Robinson turned out to be a leftist in the trans and furry communities, who murdered Kirk for those exact reasons. THAT is what Kimmel should've said.

Or said nothing at all.

I didn’t skip that part. It’s another example of the dichotomy. You just want to yell pause at the online stuff and not consider how he got there to fit a narrative.

There’s a reason he would fall into that online group, it wasn’t random. It’s because his dad seemed to hate who he was/is as he developed and that pushed him to find groups that hated his dad’s type back. The gun culture his parents pushed on him led him to decide they took was the solution to his problems. It’s all connected to this weird friction of having both toxic sides of the spectrum in a father son relationship

If I make a credible threat against somebody else when I'm talking to you, that still counts as a credible threat against the other person. Keep reaching. You can still debase yourself a little bit more.
A credible threat would've been Carr reaching out to ABC from official government channels, sponsored events, formal complaints, etc. Not making comments on a podcast.

Days before this TV show, Kimmel posted that instead of all the finger pointing we should all just agree that shooting someone is monstrous.

What he said in the show was that MAGA was consumed with the finger pointing, and he was right.

At least not blame MAGA... a really dumb move.

The most important thing for Jimmy Kimmel to do was to be funny, get ratings, and make ABC $$$$.... he failed across the board. They fired him because it was an easy out, if it wasn't this, it would have been something else.

He didn't blame MAGA.

Which is finger pointing at MAGA. You're tying yourself in loops to avoid calling Kimmel malicious or incompetent.

More importantly, posted is not the issue here. Kimmel can post whatever he wants on his accounts. His comments on ABC's channel, not his, ABC has its own interests to maintain beyond Kimmel's.

If, at the height of the BLM riots in 2020, a late night talk show host said George Floyd's death was not the result of police brutality and BLM was lying by blaming the police, nobody would've bat an eye at them getting suspended. You absolutely would not have. That would be needlessly inflaming tensions that could have caused more violence. That's not cancel culture. Kimmel intentionally lied and that could have caused tensions to rise. He's being held accountable by his network. Even if it was cancel culture, nobody wants to hear you whine about being eaten by the monster you helped create.

Even AI can give you a few examples if you cared to look.

Examples of prominent figures fired or forced to resign
  • Greg Glassman (CrossFit CEO): Stepped down in June 2020 after tweeting "It's FLOYD-19" in response to a statement that racism is a public health crisis. Audio also revealed him telling employees, "We're not mourning for George Floyd".
  • Craig Gore (Producer): A producer for an SVU spinoff was fired in June 2020 after making inflammatory Facebook posts about looters during the protests.
  • Grant Napear (Kings Broadcaster): A Sacramento Kings announcer lost his job after tweeting "ALL LIVES MATTER" in response to DeMarcus Cousins' question about his stance on Black Lives Matter.
  • Hal Marx (Petal, Mississippi Mayor): Was criticized for social media comments suggesting that Floyd's death was caused by an overdose or heart attack, and that if "you say you can't breathe, you're breathing".
You guys can quit saying what I would do. I have never been a fan of cancel culture. During the Gina drama I posted multiple times that I thought firing her was stupid. So you can save it. Now it’s your turn to show your back bone- if you really don’t like cancel culture then stand up against it now when you like the results. That’s when it’s hard to oppose something. That’s when you actually solidify the things you value.

Unless you actually are of the opinion that cancel culture is a good thing. In which case fine I guess, just remember that the shoe will be on the other foot again

Rodeo clown remembers.
If you do that now trump will deport you to Somalia 😂

You are basing your assertion off of the whole Kimmel incident. It’s very telling that you ignored everything that I just said. You have no interest in getting to the bottom of anything.

He very clearly does:

"We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it."

No he doesn't lmao.

According to who? You? You don't know what the fuck you're talking about. If you make a credible threat against somebody, it doesn't matter who you're talking to. It's a credible threat, and it's illegal.

In this case, it's an unconstitutional threat (even if veiled) of retaliation by the FCC Chair to suppress free speech.

OK, explain that logic to me.

Speech like that which Charlie shared is protected and not violence.

Far too many on the Left don't seem to get it. Now that I have explained it, you can thank me.

That has absolutely nothing to do with the first amendment.

And if it did, who is saying Charlie's speech isn't protected? Or that violence is?

Until you prove otherwise, I'm going to assume you don't understand the first amendment.

Even there I'd push back against what you're saying here because it seems to imply these are equivalent when they're not, Kimmel was suspended by ABC under pressure from the FCC which was not the case with Gina Carano.

This is far worse than anything that ever happened under left wing cancel culture but they'll ignore it and keep ratcheting up the temperature and laying the groundwork for a general crackdown on the opposition.

No.

Robinson killed Kirk because he is a mentally deranged, sick guy. Not being MAGA or being a leftist explains why someone wouldn't agree with or even hate Kirk. Not murder them. To point out that the murderer is "anything but what they are" MAGA is trying to use the fact that Robinson killed Kirk to attack the left and "score points." Which is capitalizing and exploiting murder to depict the left as a whole as ideologically complicit with or even responsible for this.

That's what Kimmel said and implied, and no amount of interpretative contortions will twist this to warrant him being fired.

This is not about Robinson's political views, since this happens around the globe by lunatics from the left and the right. And using these examples as ways to discredit or assault the ideology of the opponent is opportunism in action.

Which is what Kimmel was arguing.

Mark is an idiot.

if it's a political show then i don't give a shit, but if you parade as a family friendly comedy show then don't get political and being a fckwit about it.
