Social Jimmy Kimmel gets Canceled

Do you think 'The Jimmy Kimmel' show should have been cancelled?

So the government was involved in both and used their pressure to get the person cancelled?
When was Kimmel a main reason for his network having to pay close to a billion dollars for being lying pieces of shit?

and then made fun of Trump for acting like typical Trump when asked in that clip how he’s coping with Kirk’s death.

Ironically, Trump's lack of obvious emotion and visible sadness over Kirk's death, along with his failure to attend Kirk's vigil- 6 DEMOCRAT POLITICIANS SHOWED THEY CARED FOR CHARLIE MORE THAN TRUMP DID!- should have hacks like Confucanmus frothing at the mouth over the lack of respect for Saint Charlie's memory.

Hack Confucanmus was all clutching his pearls over his 90YO spinster breasts because only 6 Dems bothered to do what Dear Leader couldn't be bothered to do at all. His pearl-clutching is selective and inconsistent, to say the least.

I haven't watched a single episode of the show in its entirety since he took over. There's nothing on late night that you can't get better on youtube or other social media sites in terms of access to celebrities and movie/tv news.

The MAGA people are the ones lying here, and they're happy to lie because they don't like how critical Kimmel has been of Trump over the years. It's that simple.

I do agree what he said wasn't the most eloquent and left it open to misinterpretation, but they are deliberately misinterpreting things because they like the result and don't like him.

All he was saying was that MAGA was more concerned with pointing fingers than anything else, and that is just the honest truth.

While I would digress, and think there's a lot of finger-pointing from both sides, I concede to this. I absolutely don't think that either side is completely blameless. Kimmel should have been a bit more concise (and maybe a bit contrite?) in his dialogue.

I'm probably not going to be as critical against Trump as many of the more left-leaning in this group. I'm not a D nor an R. I am vehemently moderate and believe in distributionism wholeheartedly. But, Trump absolutely blew the door open to the seeping infection that, sorry to say, started with the right.

Some here might be old enough to remember, and I referenced it in another post, the CSPAN debacle between Bill O'Reilly (POS) and Al Franken (Also, POS). This was the beginning of where the liberals lost their cool, I think. The repeated assaults from people like Rush Limbaugh left them scuttering for their own voice.

What's concerning, is that the liberals lost their moral high-ground a while back. We've devolved into two messy, incompatible shit-shows. Just like I don't think Charlie Kirk was a good person, I don't think Jimmy Kimmel was, either. The difference here, is that Jimmy Kimmel gets to walk away with his fat stacks of money. Charlie Kirk is dead.

Liberals, like Conservatives, will have to admit that they helped fuel a fire that was eventually going to burn out of control. I work in insurance. When I review a loss, there is something called comparative negligence. It's time we started looking at it like that. Dems get a small pass from me because the right has such an absolutely mindless and crazy history of sheer evil, even in our country. They are basically the boy who cried wolf at this point.

Nobody cares at all about Kimmel, and if the show was canceled because Kimmel alienated members of the viewer base, that's fine.

We're pointing out that if he was canceled as the result of government pressure, that is clearly and specifically a first amendment issue. Assuming that was the case, do you disagree? I don't need you to say that WAS the case, consider this an abstract hypothetical.

I'm not asking you to cross the impenetrable partisan divide, I'm looking for your honest opinion on that possibility. Clearly expressed.
The FCC Chair making a comment on a podcast to the podcast host and not any ABC employee on the show with them is very different than the FCC ACTUALLY opening a complaint towards ABC/Disney. They didn't even reach out to them from a government email.

At no point were government powers used.

If you want to call that skirting the line or an implied threat go ahead. But even your best case scenario is ABC and other broadcasters pre-emptively getting ahead of them MAYBE doing so.

I think he is more concerned that the fed govt was instrumental in getting him removed from the air. If the quotes from Carr about threats to pull the license to force abc to punish kimmel are true, it’s a slam dunk case imo.
Sinclair said they WANTED the FCC to investigate.

So no.

Yes it is. Or are you under the impression that this is the first time in history that the FCC made a complaint to a network over it's content? ABC had no legal obligation to get rid of him. They chose to do it.
A complaint? Can you source when they made threats like the ones in the current case, they were backed by the administration also threatening networks and the person then being fired?
If there are any it should absolutely be called out and shit on.

Very good post that I agree with wholeheartedly.

Every tragedy is looked at as an opporunity to cast blame, gain influence and control from MAGA, there is no honest reflection and of course never any introspection.

Both sides do point fingers, but more often than not the Liberals are just playing constant defense. And MAGA are just constantly on the attack like a rage zombie from 28 days later.

This was Jimmy's message from 8 days ago after the shooting, and it is what he was trying to convey on his show though less eloquently and with a punchline. I don't think anyone honest would disagree with it.

There is no option for my vote in this thread's poll. Where is the option...

YES... his ratings suck, he loses ABC money, and he's not funny.

Howard Stern basically made a career out of surviving FCC complaints and fines.

But actually, this was even less than that. They didn't even officially make a complaint. A guy said some shit on a podcast, and that was the excuse ABC needed.

Kimmel simply wasn't worth the headache.
