Jim Carrey easy for me. He was probably the most popular actor in the 90s. Everyone knew who he was and those of us smoking weed on a quiet Saturday afternoon would always pop in a DVD of one of his long list of funny movies.

I mean who didn't think this man would be mega popular one day?

Honestly Carrey's early blockbusters have not held up very well for me at all compared to Murphy's, this would come down more to Murphy's blockbusters vs Carrey's more serious stuff like Truman Show and Spotless Mind.

Which ones didn't hold up for you?

For me bevery hills cop 1 and coming to America put Murphy over Carrey. Dumb and dumber, Truman show and eternal sunshine are the 3 best for me. based on those 3 it's close. Truman and sunshine are both really really good. Fun poll

Murphy for me. His classics have aged better, haven't seen his newer stuff same with Carrey. I grew up with both (more Murphy though) and enjoyed stuff like The Mask, Dumb and Dumber and Ace Ventura but I've not rewatched them nor care to. Just looking at Murphy's classics on this list makes me want to rewatch them. Carrey has a broader range though. I've not seen his dramas but I hear good things. Wait no, I saw Truman Show and enjoyed it, just isn't memorable.

Really weird to me that Jim carry is getting so many votes. I can't stand the guy and think almost everything he's ever done is obnoxious and totally sucks.

I woulda thought before coming in here that eddie Murphy would be winning in a blowout.

I think the most rewatchable Carrey comedy is Cableguy. That shit is fucking hilarious.

Ace Ventura and Dumb and Dumber are laugh out loud funny the first time you see them and are legendary, but Cableguy never gets the recognition it deserves.

Carrey but I think I was shown/presented with more Carrey movies growing up, if it was the other way around the answer would've been Eddie.

I've watched The Mask on VHS like 30 times, mostly because that's what I had, wasn't privy to a huge library of VHS movies really lol.

Good poll. Carrey on In Living Color definitely carried the show, was hilarious and clear he'd become a star. He's my overall pick.

But as a guy who lived through both of their primes, Eddie was a bigger star in the 80's and early 90's (his career prime) than Carrey was in his prime (mid-90's to 00's). Eddie was a legit box office superstar who could carry blockbusters.

Of all their movies, Coming to America is my favorite. But after that Eddie's movies drop off for me and Carrey has the better body of work. Truman Show was amazing.

Jim Carrey on a LOT more better movies and that isn't a slight on Eddie Murphy but Pluto Nash, Norbit, Daddy Day Care, A 1000 Words... he has a lot of stinkers.

Carrey has more longevity and a better overall body of work, but I vote Eddie for how he handled Rick James disrespecting his couch.

Also, Carrey gave his ex-girlfriend herpes and prescription drugs that enabled her suicide.

I used to work at a place that was frequented by a producer (I actually have a copy of a version of the script of Green Book she left one night, way before it actually came out), and she went on this drunk semi-rant one night telling me how Carrey was a good guy and getting railroaded in that civil case... and somehow Michael Angarano was behind it... lol

Like Carrey but prime Eddie's run of 48 hours, Trading Places and then Beverley Hills Cop hard to top. All classics. Even liked bits of Golden Child. Coming to America is another classic as well.

Carrey has some of the best all time great comedy films, I've seen most of Eddie's films but honestly can't really remember a single one that I would ever want to rewatch.

Jim for movies and shows. Eddie for standup.
