Jim Carrey or Robin Williams - Who's funnier overall?

Carrey has a genre all to himself.

Williams was a superb actor though. He did genuine very authentically.

Hard to pick but I would say although Carrey might have been funnier at his peak, he stopped being funny a long time ago, but Williams was pretty good right up until the end

I liked Jim Carrey as a kid but now I find a lot of Carrey's stuff to be too over the top to the point of being irritating instead of funny.

williams is funnier to his core, at times carey achieves elite funniess but its mainly thru caricature

Robin is likely the best improv ever and While Carey had moments this isn't close for being funny - never really found Carey funny outside of Living Color.

As an actor ots closer but Williams still better by a good amount.

Folks underestimate how good Robin was. Robin os S tier Actor and Comic Carey is 1 level below imo.

Robin Williams seemed like a great human, but was never a big fan of his schtick.

Carey comes off as a bit of a dick, imo, but he’s had 3-4 good comedies.


Neither is touching likes of Bill Murray and Steve Martin.

I never found Robin Williams funny. Always just reminded me of a hyperactive child in an adult’s body.

Jim Carrey is similar in that regard, but he’s genuinely funny.
Just looking at his face is enough for a laugh sometimes.

Carrey has better expressions and impressions, but Robin Williams is a better actor and is way more intelligent and quick witted. It’s wild the stuff Williams would reference out of nowhere and turn into a joke.
