Jim Beam or Jack Daniels

Yeah it's usually between $35-$40 at most of the stores I go to around here in Knoxville TN. Fortunately my new job is just a couple of miles from Total Wine & Spirits and they usually have great prices...I guess just due to the fact that they're so large. They have Knob Creek for just over $30, which is good because it's probably my favorite Beam bourbon after Booker's. The issue with Booker's though is that it's expensive when you consider that you never really know exactly what you're getting, unless you've already tried that batch. Some years are absolutely phenomenal but occasionally you'll find one that leaves a lot to be desired.

Also, I definitely have to recommend that everyone here pickup a bottle of this Johnnie Walker High Rye as soon as possible. I stumbled across it a week or two ago on sale for half price. Rye whiskey isn't my go-to but I don't hate it like a lot of people. This is definitely NOT a rye whiskey though. There's hints of rye but it's much more subtle than I anticipated. After spending some quality time with it, I believe this is my new favorite Johnnie Walker. I like it more than Blue and Gold Label. At the moment, if I had a gun to my head, I dare say I'd even pick it over Green Label. It still tastes like a Johnnie Walker but it stands out from the rest of their lineup more so than any of their other offerings in my opinion.

I agree about Booker’s. It’s fairly rare in my area, and usually is marked up anywhere from $120-$150, and that’s a lot to spend—especially when I can get a 120 proof Knob Creek Single Barrel any day of the week for $55, and can also get the Elijah Craig Barrel Proof and Larceny Barrel Proof batches consistently in my area. I’ll still pick up a Booker’s if I know that batch has gotten good reviews and I can buy it near MSRP, but I don’t go hunting for it.

I’ll keep that JW in mind, although truth be told I don’t drink much scotch. It’s primarily bourbon, rye, and Irish for me.

Yeah this Johnnie Walker trades out the traditional peated smokiness for rye notes so it could easily be mistaken for bourbon. You don't really get the rye notes up from though. They kinda just hit all once towards the middle. There's some rye spice on the backend but not much burn and it goes down very easy. It's just a really unique blend.

Thanks for the heads up! My buddy and I recently worked our way through the entire Johnnie Walker lineup and I love the stuff, but I've never tried the high rye.

Never even seen it for sale. If it's half price then I wonder if they're discontinuing it.

Kirkland booze is a pretty good bang for the buck.
Oh yeah I buy 2 handles at a time.
They are also have good variety in Kirkland whiskey and bourbon several styles and knockoffs I think they have a crown Royal knockoff.

It was just a temporary markdown at this one store by my house. I assume they just ordered too much or something. They do these specials often. I'd hope it's not getting discontinued because I quite enjoy it. I think the "High Rye" in the title scares off a lot of people that's probably like it.
