Hate that move for Petrino since his chin always looked shaky even before Jacoby brutally killed him (guy got rocked by the pleasure can), but given how he tends to go for the wrestling very early he's got a good chance of beating Diniz tbh.

That’s actually a smart move by Petrino. Rakic and Walker should do the same I reckon.
Rakic has a good chance to beat every HW other than aspinall and Jones, he is faster than all of them, they wouldn't know how to stop his leg kick, he can blast double leg the fat ones who have a lot of power(sergei, Lewis, Rozenstruik) and his boxing is better than all of them. Nzechukwu went up and he smoked 2 HWs, rakic is miles better than nzechukwu

Nzechukwu has beaten two jobbers soundly, but he'll get smoked by a decent HW in the near future. Sadly, that's the nature of HW fighting in the UFC.

Agreed Rakic would see more success at HW, but I don't see him geeting past Sergei, Volkov, Blaydes, Gane, etc never mind the two champs. He'd be Top 10, but primarily cuz HW is the shallowest division in MMA by a country mile.

Honestly LHWs moving up to Heavyweight is the way to go, if you ain’t doing too good at LHW just move up and beat up on the Mr Blobbies hanging around just outside top 10 like its a buffet at HW.

I don't think this ends well for Petrino. Stylistically it isn't the hardest fight for him, but Diniz has very clean striking -- I reckon Petrino will try to wrestle.

That's a fairly quick turnaround considering he got absolutely flatlined by that shot Jacoby hit him with. That's not even three months' layoff... with a training camp and sparring mixed in? Yikes. I usually like to see fighters take six months off before jumping into a camp after a KO like that. Diniz doesn't impress me, but he's a dangerous striker who is more than capable of hurting Petrino on the feet which makes this prospect all the more dangerous. Vitor better copy Tybura's homework and wrestle early and often.

That said, in the long run I don't know if HW will work out for him. He's a big boy, so maybe he feels LHW was depleting him and harming his performances... but honestly I feel like we've come to see that he's a very basic and unexceptional fighter who lacks an X factor. His physicality was one of the few advantages he enjoyed at 205, but at HW? What does he have? Speed... maybe? I'm not even sure about that, the dude's a bit plodding at times in between his explosive bursts. I guess he might be moderately more technical and well-rounded than some of the most bottom-of-the-barrel dudes, but not by much.

I picked petrino but diniz could ko him.should be a fun fight.petrino has to be very careful but if he's smart he will bring his wrestling shoes.

Interesting move by Petrino but his days at 205 looked numbered. This move might give him one more fight even if he loses.

I’m friends with Petrino, but I also know Diniz. Very strange matchup, especially since both are living and training out of Curitiba. Feels a bit like a loser leaves town matchup. Petrino is young and could still redeem himself, for Diniz it’s another story.

Diniz is a world class kickboxer and is probably the most decorated Brazilian striker in the UFC, fought Ghita and Verhoeven to a decision, but has 0 ground game. If he doesn’t manage to KO Petrino early, he will lose by whatever Vitor wants on the ground.

Going to sit this one out.

I saw some brazilian saying that Petrino gets to 120 kg when he's not in camp, do you know if that is true? Would make sense to try it out at HW.. but Diniz? I dont like the matchup either
