I'd say she's more a striker than a BJJ player. She does wrestle a decent amount though. Not sure if she has BJJ credentials but I wouldn't be surprised.

Haha...exactly :p

Totally agree! I think Penne will get it to the ground by being...brought to the ground :p

I can't swear by it .. I was fairly certain that Andrade had her base in BJJ. Will try to verify that though ...

Honestly, I think I'm more intrigued over 199, but not by much:
I'm definitely more intrigued by 199 for sure. Two of my absolute favorite fighters defending their titles, another favorite in Guida taking on a young rising star, Lombard back at MW vs a legend, Poirier vs Green, this fight here... Oh yeah...I guess some Hawaiian guy is coming back too... :p

Yes, she is. But who knows how big Andrade is gonna be after the move and how well she'll take the cut.

I think she'll keep Andrade on the outside with her teeps and jab, her boxing has gotten better since her Invicta days. Question is will she get physically overpowered on the mat?

Goddamn I'm geeked up. Literally getting chills down my back as I'm typing this.

Wow, a former atomweight vs someone who looks like a semi truck at 135. I'm gonna need to see Andrade at the weigh ins before making a pick

Penne was a super sized atom weight that cut a lot of weight for that division though ..

I agree, I'm wanting to see how that weight cut affects Andrade.

I'm happy to see Penne fighting again.

"Howd you lose your account"

"I bet on Jessica Andrade"

I was just checking on UFC website. Penne has 67" reach and Jessica 62". Penne was talking about focusing on strength training a while back and Jessica moving down might mean she isn't going to have a power advantage after a weight cut.

It will be interesting to see if Penne will be able to muscle Andrade in the clinch to get this to the ground .. me thinks she will have a hard time with that unless Andrade has a bad cut. I would say that Andrade is more of a natural Flyweight, and she definitely wasn't cutting much weight to fight at BW.

Jessica is originally from Judo/BJJ, but still she is only a blue belt at it. Has been winning a ton of competition during this time the UFC put her on hold but still...has been at a blue belt level.
But she honestly found herself in striking, her gym is very striking oriented. She has some powerfull takedowns and a decent top control game but she is still prone to stupid mistakes while grappling like she did on her losses to Raquel and Marion.

Penne has been trying to bulk up a bit. I think she's gonna end up getting a sub.

I think Penne vs Calderwood would have been a better match up, but .. it's another fight for the SW division so I won't complain.

I actually really like Andrade and had been saying forever she needed to drop to 115, but that being said the beating Penne took from Joanna but how well she managed to do at the same time leads me to believe she'll be a real threat to any SW so I got Penne by sub maybe dec

Ah, the age old question about Thickness vs. Length! :D
