"this invention called whiteness" --blame our vitamin D needs my light skinned, blue-eyed friend.
So Justin Timberlake tries to tweet support for the speech and he is immediately personally attacked (the sharks smelled weakness).
Fuck Jessie Williams, fuck Ernest Owens, fuck BET, and fuck that racist-ass movement known as #BLM.
No clue, man.I don't get why people in Justin Timberlakes position apologize. If I had that much money apologizing would cost more then any amount of money I could lose as long as I get to keep everything I already have I wouldn't give a shit. In fact I'd probably double down and start to enter troll territory.

As far as the speech I don't really care somethings were true somethings he just went off on that were stupid and didn't even make sense.
Timberlake was incredibly naive to support such a stupid whiny rant. If there is one thing I hate more than stupid whiny rants, it is virtue signalling cowards who openly support those rants.
A sweater, is that some sort of reference to Bill Cosby? Is that how you see my people, as nothing more than rapists and perverts!? Your racism disgusts me!This fits this thread like a fine sweater.
@panamaican
Just so you know, I appreciate your insight and posts on racial issues.
I don't always agree but I do respect your opinion on the matter.
that being said, another aspect that threw me off about this speech was the notion of this "invention called whiteness".
What does that mean and/or how did you interpret that?
He was obviously referring to how the white devils were created by Yakub

Just thinking out loud here, but what's more "artificial" ? Grouping all white folks together, or separating them by country of origin? Doesn't really matter either way, I just found your post interesting. He was really just talking about how "whiteness" is an artificial cultural grouping. It's actually been used in the service of increasingly greater inclusion in America (as lots of groups--Germans, Italians, etc., that weren't previously considered "white" came to be). It obviously has some limits, though, and we would be better served by using "Americanism" as a replacement.

Got it. BTW, I didn't think you were saying that "whiteness" was bad, and don't think you were being divisive. Now if we can just "reinvent" humanness then we'd be making headway. Unfortunately we're not there yet, as people tend to focus on things that separate, instead of things that bind us together.I think the national groupings (which, BTW, weren't exactly political ones) are "natural" in the sense that they came to be organically. "Whiteness" is a more ideological creation. Again, I'm not saying it's "bad." One of the effects of the invention of "whiteness" is that it reduced irrational discrimination against a lot of groups that previously faced it.

He's using the Marxist terminology which equates whiteness with racism and oppression. It comes from the same cult that has redefined racism to mean only white people can be racist.
The idea is if whiteness can be eliminated, then the utopia can be achieved.
This is the sort of thing that is being financed and pushed in the school systems internationally.

Saying white people is as irresponsible as saying black people. Same goes for "invention called whiteness"
Name people, name organizations, name affiliations, don't fire off at an entire color. It's disgusting whichever direction generalizing comments like that are slung.
I'm not sure we need an out group, but you could be right. A common cause might do it, and a common language would help as well. And I'm talking globally here.I think that, unfortunately, we do need an "out group" to be bound. Marxists have tried and failed miserably to use class as a substitute for nationalism, while right-wingers have successfully been able to use race. I think nationalism does work, and is the real solution. I would support making English the national language and a few other symbolic changes along those lines.
