You dont know? Saul sets it up because Mike is working for him. They meet in Pollos Hermano and Gus doesnt want to do business with them because he sees Jesse as the unreliable drug junkie he is. Its the first small pinch in their relationship.
With Catalyst I meant that Jesse is the motor behind every bad development between Gus and Walt resulting in Gus wanting to kill him . Jesse selling on the side, stealing product, being unreliable, behaving like a jackass, in the end killing Gus dealers, using the product....and so on. Thats why he is the Catalyst. Without Jesse they just would have continued respecting each others professionalism and would have worked together without conflict making boatloads of money until Walt would have died of cancer.
 
Overall I think that he fit the story pretty well. He was a foil that dissipated some of the seriousness of the show, at least at first. I didn't like the girlfriend arc though. It was boring AF and I didn't care about either of the characters. Jesse went from being entertaining to being a downer every time he was on screen. What happened made sense in the context of Jesse's character; he was a 20-something idiot that finally realized there are consequences to his behaviour. However the arc didn't need to be dragged for that long. Like damn, we got it already.

Without Jesse, Walt would have never even met Gus. Your post seemed to imply that without Jesse, Walt would have connected with Gus and happily worked under him without issue. What I was asking is, how would Walt have gotten in touch with Gus without Jesse?
 
He's the definition of a self destructive person and people like that are the worst. They will bring everyone and everything down around them once they've snapped.
 
He looked like a prick I used to work with. Every time Jesse would get mad and start shouting it would grind my gears a little bit
 
I always feel like I'm living in the Upside Down, because to me Aaron Paul is a horrific actor that I keep see being praised for his acting skills. Like have you seen some of this dude's other work? Lol

I hated him as Jesse. Not believable to me at all, and there had to have been a million other actors that could have played that role.

He seems like a super nice dude so I almost feel bad about saying it, but seriously. Imagine what someone like Ben Foster could have done with that part. Similar look but 10x the actor.
 
Plot twist: after leaving Alaska, he goes south and joins AEW.

The scene where Pinkman had Saul blackmail his parents into selling their house at some lowball price was on youtube. I remember the comments 100% behind Jesse. This seemed so messed up to me.

All the reasons they had to sell it was because of him. He sold and manufactured drugs in that house then used it against his own parents who let him live there (probably rent free). So he showed his appreciation by making them accessories.

Not to mention the fact that Walt and Jesse melted to people and flushed them down the toilet. Jesse destroyed the upstairs bathroom when he was attempting to melt someone. A person Jesse had known since grade school.

Jesse Pinkman was a scumbag and I don't give a crap if he liked kids.
