We've never seen a fighter with a glaring weakness ever fix that weakness. Look into it.
Or maybe his "problem" was that he kept taking fights in the top guys of the division, and no one wins them all. It's not like it's a steep decline, he got annihilated twice by Sea-level Cain (and spinning kicked Hunto between those blowouts), beat the crap out of Stipe, and then got knocked out by Reem. That's not that big of a deal, Reem has knocked a lot of dudes out. Then he beat a juiced up Big Ben, and got knocked out by Stipe.
I'd say his biggest downfall is that he popped. The dude's only four losses in the UFC are to Cain x2, Reem, and HW champ-mode Stipe. That's nothing to be ashamed of.
It was weird watching his game plan in the Cain rematches. No Im not talking about USADA as a JDS fan i choose to stay ignorant and believe it was a tainted supplement
JDSs real problem is he fell in love with his boxing without a very good trainer he had great power and stalked his opponents as if they were already done but now that maybe the level is higher and the Cain miles are on him it doesnt go the same
His main problem is he constantly moves backwards or along the cage with his hands completely down and relies on head movement and chin that doesnt fly he moves straight backwards with no angles and his lead arm either straight forward or down and gets caught
I cant understand this why is his boxing coach not drilling this into him to please pit your hands up and make an angle it has literally ruined his career the last few fights
Overeem he was the most gunshy we have ever seen him and I really thought his power and speed + overeems chin made a pretty solid prediction but once again wrong and then the stipe rematch...
Exactly its as if he worked so much on gnp defense that he forgot his roots and got beat up on the feetIt was weird watching his game plan in the Cain rematches.
He was doing the common mistake of being so concerned with the takedown against a wrestler that he was leaving his striking defense wide open and was so hesitant to strike but the thing was, that I never really heard talked about was how well and how little damage he took once Cain would take him down.
He was neutralizing him well from his back and iirc was getting back to his feet
I really feel if he would have let his hands go and just trusted in his ability to once taken down neutralize the gnp he would have made it way more competitive.
All the damage he took was on the feet with hands low trying to stop the takedown and just getting battered.
I think a lot of people really dont comprehend how career/life changing a single beatdown can be, like the two he took from Cain.
not only does your brain take a fucking colossal amount of damage, but your confidence also may never recover.
"gimmie an A gimmie an S,U,A,D...A!!
what does that spell? USADA!!"
