Maybe heavier guys do get more knockouts, but I am willing to bet that lighter guys get a lot more submissions. So your switch of subject to say knockouts is a suitable substitute for finishes doesn't work.

that maybe true for the lower ranked guys, but title figths don't end in submission nearly as much. so if you lack ko power and your only way to finish a fight is by submisson. you're not going to be getting the same amount of finishes in title matches as people with knockout power.

lets look at the current ufc champs finishes in title fights and the guy who preceded them

cain's title fights - 0 finishes
JDS's title figths - 2 ko's/tko's

JBJ title fights - 1 ko/tko, 3 submission
shogun title fights - 1ko/tko

anderson's title fights - 7 ko's/tko's, 3 submission
rich's title fights - 2 ko's/tko's

gsp's title fights - 3 ko's/tko's, 1 submission
serra's title figths - 1 ko

benson henderson title fights - 0 finishes
frankie edgar title fights - 1 ko/tko

jose aldo - 1 ko

dominic cruz - 0 finishes

demetrious johnson - 0 finishes

so 19 knockouts vs 7 submissions.

in title fights at the top level submissions are less prevalent. and since gsp doesn't have alot of natural punching power and since title fights is where gsp has been fighting recently his ratio has gone to shit. but if he had natural power like cain did it would be a compeletely different story

if you want to compare gsp while he was beating up guys who weren't championship calibre his finishing ratio goes up alot, just like most of cains finishes come outside of title fights against guys like big ben and dennis stoynic

Well his beat down of Bigfoot was more stellar so to speak, having brock and Bigfoot works just as well ^_^

Versus Bigfoot? Bigfoot couldn't see after the first strike. Didn't prove much against a guy who couldn't see anything. Cain would have won either way but that fight was far from stellar.

Opinionated

Since when is grasping for ankles, terrible TDs, and an inability to keep a completely gassed opponent on the ground associated with any sort of domination?

Domination and decision don't go in the same sentence, IMO. I'm not even really a big JDS fan. I mean, he's alright, but I didn't particularly care who won this fight. But all this talk of Cain 'domination' is absurd. Maybe I was watching a different fight or something.

Dude floundered around for five rounds and landed a few shots that caused some visible damage because JDS never had his hands up. Big deal. Not hard to damage the face of someone who NEVER bothered to block or dodge you. This is not to say JDS's performance was any better at all, in fact it was worse if only because it was like he was running on fumes the entire match. But hey, at least he didn't get KO'd or submitted or ridden the entire fight. And for someone running on fumes the entire match, and never keeping his hands up, you'd think he'd be much easier to KO.

There was no domination of any kind in this fight. The only domination that took place was outside of the octagon, with Dana dominating the pocketbooks of all the PPV customers with this lousy performance by both of them. But hey, at least Miller v Lauzon was pretty good--that's the kind of decision that's worth a damn. Talk about pace and heart. Doesn't even compare.

The first fight can be seen easily as a fluke and the second fight kinda almost proves that it was, but the third fight will tell for sure if it was or not. If Cain dominates the third fight, first was definitely a fluke. A quick KO can likely be a fluke, but no one can dispute a 5 round ass whippin, 5 round dominance > 60 sec KO.

Getting caught vs. being consistently beaten? oh well . no point talking to a nuthugger

100% agree. Can't believe people think a flash 1 minute ko is more decisive that a thorough 50-43 smashing. Cain is better than JDS Everywhere and this fight showed who truly is the better fighter. Can't wait until Cain vs JDS 3 so JDS gets finished in the 2nd round this time! Cain will put him out once and for all.

Lol so many Cain fans are so butthurt that they can't change the fact that he got kod but couldn't do the same to JDS.

He won, so did junior, why the hate..

He got knocked unconscious in the first fight.

No amount of butthurt crying or warped logic is gonna change that.

No such thing as a fluke when you deliberately throw a KO punch.

Five rounds of domination tops any kind of quick finish. Sorry, but it's a fact.

LOL ok Cain got KOed in the 1st fight but JDS absolutely got mauled and spanked in the 2nd fight. Do you think a flash KO is more decisive than a 50-43 spanking??

Cain got caught and finished, they rematched, JDS got outclassed. It's pretty much the same as GSP/Serra. GSP got caught and finished, they rematched and GSP gave him a beating. Only, JDS is 100x the fighter Serra ever was.

People need to stop complaining, at least JDS didn't give up. Respect him for that.
