JDS on Werdum's loss: "As a striker, he's really good at BJJ"

Damn that's embarrassing.

ecoreem ko'ed jds, imagine what ubereem can do

Ubereem actually loses to JDS

Lol which is why I saw Stipe winning comfortably before the fight. Werdum was not going to out strike him at range and his wrestling wasn't good enough to get him to the mat. Stipe had no plans to clinch with Werdum and let him pull guard. I know hindsight is 20/20, but I had the foresight to know Werdum was likely fucked in this fight.

I actually had Werdum outstriking him and Stipe tiring out before he does

lol oops

I can only think Werdum must have thought Stipe was semi rocked or something when he backed into the cage, then pushed off of it with his butt. It makes no sense otherwise. But only one person actually knows the truth.

He lost his patience for some reason and pressuring him with sloppy strikes SMH!

I agree with him about Hunt. I was thinking the same thing and then the knee landed so I was like oh well guess it don't matter.

Lol you weren't alone. Werdum's striking not nearly as good as people make it to be. Browne and Cain just aren't technical strikers like Stipe. I knew Werdum would struggle with Stipe's speed and crisp boxing.

JDS dead on accurate. Werdum was getting beat up against Hunto until the knee. Werdum became overconfident in his slow stiff uncoordinated striking. He outstruck Browne and Cain lol, but that ain't exactly Mike Tyson and Peter Aerts.
Exactly, you are so right. We saw this coming and it was easy to predict. the fact remains that anytime Werdum has fought someone with fast crisp hands like Arlovski, JDS, Sergei and Stipe.. he has been beaten and beaten easily. if he can't get the fight down he is a walking target against good strikers.

Basically lol. Werdum is so beloved it's easy to forget every fighter has faults. Great fighter without a doubt, but he's just not the world beater people made him out to be.

Werdum actually had a takedown attempt and it was fucking hilarious.

He literally just leaned down and grabbed onto Stipe's leg as if he was casually trying to pick up a quarter that fell.

He and Maia share that technique. In training, their coaches randomly drop quarters and other shiney objects on the ground, and their curiosity gets the best of them.

What the fuck was he doing?
Getting frustrated that he didn't have someone standing in front of him.

It's crazy how different someone's striking game can look when they aren't facing a stationary target.

Well he did beat up rothwell. Same guy that destroyed Reem. Funny how that works.
Breaking down who is better with MMAth goes out the window when the 2 guys already fought and one of them won decisively.

Anybody that subs Fedor, Nog, Overeem, and Cain is by definition a world beater.

It's hard to know WTF he was thinking chasing Stipe like that, perhaps he just had too much faith in his chin and ability to recover. An opponent basically has to one-punch werdum, because if he's ever rocked he just pulls guard--JDS had done it before, and now Stipe.

I predict a rematch would SUCK, as werdum would resort to his tactics in the AA, Overeem, Bigfoot and Fedor fights, and Stipe won't make the mistake fedor made and chase him to the ground.

Not all that decisively, fight was even up and until the last punch was thrown. I still believe that JDS beats overeem 9 times out of 10.

No, he's not. You said it they were all subs, guys fighting in his wheelhouse. They are great victories. But people acted like he had become some unstoppable muay Thai machine. His striking is poor and he struggles with good boxing.

I had it as close to a 50/50 fight as you can get, but eventually just went with Werdum. I thought his knees and kicks would make a difference even though I gave Stipe the obvious boxing advantage.

To be fair, he was doing pretty well before he decided to chase after him with his arms flailing around for some bizarre reason
