Jason Herzog making UFC history, letting a fighter get dropped like 8 times, no stoppage. Yet stops Lewis/Tallison as Tal got to his feet.

Herzog heard all the complaints about the early stoppage in the Lewis fight so he gifted us with a Just Bleed stoppage this week.
We should all be thanking him and saying "good job man, letting the fighters be warriors is the right move, blood for the blood god!!"

Didn't see it, just guessing
The first several knockdowns weren't that bad, but the last one of the first round Yahya seized up completely frozen (but still conscious) for a moment and was saved by the bell, then he literally fell over onto his stool after meandering aimlessly all around the cage between rounds. He was in as bad a shape as you can be in without actually going out cold or having a bone sticking out somewhere.

Haha, it's crazy he chose the second fight of the night on the early prelims to show he's all business, when no fucker is watching.

After 4-5 knockdowns within a very short period, including one just 30 seconds prior, I don't understand how the ref didn't stop it here:

I used to call Jason Hog one of the best refs but his decisions the past 2 years have been highly questionable. I dunno what happened

After the bell was even worse. Herzog warned Yahya's corner not to touch him--he was wobbling around, unsure where the stool was--they took their hands off for a second but then went back to physically guiding him to the stool anyway and Herzog did nothing about it, then Yahya fell into the cage behind the stool rather than sitting down normally and was lucky that the stool ended up underneath him. If I didn't know he was in a fight I'd have sworn he had a BAC of .25 or higher. He was very clearly concussed even if he never went out cold.

To be fair Yahya stood up every time, not once crawling up the cage.
Didn’t his cornermen pretty much carry him to his corner at the end of round 1? He was out of it. That, if anything, was a prolonged beating and this was one of those times where referee didn’t really look out for the fighters safety

How inconsistent is this referee? Jeez. Credit to Yahya, fucking warrior that guy is, but that fight should have been stopped way earlier.
Probably felt pressure to not stop it too early after all the blowback he got last time.

So inconsistent. There are times a guy gets dropped and the ref is already rushing into action before seeing the result. They also get tricked when the top fighter pushes the opponents head to the mat in a scramble and the ref thinks they're unconscious.

You can’t help but feel that these guys have money on the fights. I know it’s a typical conspiracy theory type thing, blah, blah, blah…

But seriously, there are random fights, where there really isn’t much on the line, and you’ll see a ref let it go as far as they humanly can. It just screams ‘odd’. CB Dollaway one always comes to mind.

Dean must've had money on that fight going into the 2nd round or whatever round it was.

Even after the bell had rang and CB was on the floor Herb was still pleading with him "you have to get up CB.. you have to get up now!!" like several times. Absolute insanity.

Stop the fight? People are jailed in UAE for far less.

I personaly think scripts exists for a small number of fights. Maybe. Didn´t Wanderlei say there was some fixing going on when he had a fall out with the UFC ? Probably got scared into keeping quiet. I could imagine 1% or less being fixed. Even that Pearson Sanchez decision made no sense. I always believed GSP got the decision vs Hendricks cause he was a cash cow.

Herb Dean also seems susceptible to over-correction flip flops.

It's a very real thing that happens to refs, but Herb seems legitimately retarded at this point, so it might be a fool's errand to apply some sort of rationale for his inconsistency.

I get it's inconsistent but not every knockdown is equal. I don't think MMA should ever turn into what boxing or kickboxing is and treat knockdowns the same. Comparing a FW to HW is as dumb as it gets. Yahya was looking better than Frankie against Maynard with his knockdowns. But to act like it's equal to ref the same thing, despite the stat discrepancy.

There's plenty of fights with no knockdowns that I think refs should stop like Elkins last fight. Also I think main event guys or for a belt should be allowed more punishment than a prelim fighter. Still everything is subjective and you could find calls that make every ref look bad. I thought Yahya rebounded pretty quickly from the knockdown.

Black Beast is hilarious. I could never see him doing stand-up, but he could definitely do comic bit roles.

Dana took him to the back and said "DO YOU WANT TO BE A FUCKING REFEREE"
