Unless of course it's a protest they don't like, then it's "yes we should confuse grannies walking around taking selfies with people breaking a window or shoving people". Trump did say "peacefully and patriotically protest", but somehow it's code for riot when it's someone you don't like, but when Harris specifically raises money to bail out violent rioters and says "they shouldn't stop and we shouldn't stop", Maxine Waters says "we have to get MORE confrontational and get in people's faces".
Did you miss the "in the last couple of days" where Trump was specifically contrasting Walz finally getting his shit together and accepting national guard after giving rioters a week to burn down the biggest metro area in his state while his wife kicked back and opened the windows to enjoy the noxious fumes from the city burning?
Even now it's mockingly referred to as "the summer of love" and "fiery but mostly peaceful" because those were literal quotes from democrats and media performing a preposterous gymnastics routine to avoid criticizing violent riots, and the mayor of Portland was scared to criticize them even after having to flee his own building because they were setting fires in it.
