jake trains like a pro. spars with pros. is with some of the best trainers he can buy. can afford all the best recovery and peds available if he wanted does not have issues with preforming live because of his job. he is more than just a youtube kid who practices. i'm fine with askren taking the fight but everyone thinking half a decade training and living like a pro fighter and being used to preforming in front of people doesn't help jake significantly they are wrong. jake has training nothing but boxing for this time. naturally athletic. less to lose. ben doesn't look dumb accepting this fight or losing it he looks dumb buying into the hes just a youtube kid who fought bums. he only fought bums but hes not this impossibly thick headed , his confidence comes from people hes dropped in training. jake is just as much of a boxer as any other boxer. if you live the life and you make the walk thats you. Now the way hes doing it is cheap and entitled. like brock lesnar beating up past prime undersized hws. he does need to get bullied around a bit but ben going into this fight thinking hes going to beat jake like its nothing is stupid.
 
I seriously don't understand the thought process behind this. Askren's entire fighting career has already been stained by that humiliating KO to Masvidal, and now he's going to run the risk of losing to Jake-fucking-Paul in a boxing match? All for the sake of making a quick buck?

What's especially sad is that Ben Askren's striking is so comically inept, the odds are stacked against him even versus some jabroni whose claim to fame is YouTube videos.

All I can surmise is that Askren must be broke as fuck right now.
 
LMAO Askren is about to embarrass MMA big time. After this there will be a big wave of "Boxing is the superior sport" for a while.

At a certain point your dignity has a price tag. I think he's just trying to make the most of what he has left since Mas took the majority of it and didn't pay

Askren is so slow and stiff in the striking, getting old too and he was already slow enough. He will get starched quickly and easily

even if he was a good striker, that doesn't mean shit in boxing. good striker =//= good boxer
 
I wonder if Askren is underestimating Jake. Jake is a douchebag and unlikable to the nth degree but he has been training boxing like a mad man for a few years now with the best trainers he can buy with his ample $ and is most likely yolked up on all kinds of PEDs. I know we haven't seen Jake fight good fighters but the eye test tells me his punches are a great deal crisper and more powerful than Ben's. Askren should know that if he loses it looks really bad being an ex-pro fighter and if he somehow wins casuals will just think he beat a "Youtuber." Unless he's making a king's ransom it seems like bad fight to take.
 
They should have made it interesting: not only MMA gloves but also allow standing submissions.

Can’t wait to hear the preemptive trash talk Dana is going to deliver to minimize the embarrassment, IF Ben loses. That said, I hate to say it, but I’ll definitely be watching lol.
 
I genuinely hope this annoying as fuck guy gets into a fatal car accident. Complete waste of oxygen.
 
I just realized something. If someone were to ask me, I would say I hate Ben Askren, and that I am not a fan... But in reflection, watching him go 0-3 in the UFC was some of the most entertaining "fighting" I have ever seen. This will be another level of enjoyment watching him get beat by a nobody. In hindsight, I freaking LOVE Ben Askren!!

Exactly.

Like when Conor's punches did absolutely ZERO to Mayweather lol. Which anybody who likes or follows boxing to any degree knew would happen. I didn't think he wouldn't land anything, but I absolutely believed his punches would have no effect; all the talk of 'power', I'm sure there's powerful punchers in UFC but not to the degree of top boxers, unless they're freakishly luckily gifted - which I know some/quite a lot of power can be to a degree, but it's also technique and repetition, and it's ALL boxers do - all day long, every day.

An MMA guy's punches to a top boxer probably feels like feathers. Not saying Jake shit face is a top boxer, but even so... it's all he's working on, and Ben is shit at it.
