Really good match up I wanted to see. I wonder though what they plan on doing with Pav and Blaydes in the mean time. Unless they want them to run it back both dudes are likely going to be sitting out quite a while since there's literally no one else for them to fight with Tom sitting out and Gane being booked to fight Volkov. For this reason I kinda expected Pav vs Almeida and Blaydes vs Spivac as it would be two fresh match up's for both of them..

How do you know Spivac wanted to be there?

He hit a sick armbar from guard, but historically he’s been a top position mauler, and Tybura actually has showcased decent top control before. It’s also the only time he’s ever been submitted, so it’s not like he’s known for having a glaring submission defense hole in his game.

Would be incredibly stupid fight IQ to let someone who is a solid top position grappler with good sub defense take you down at HW of all division, where’s subs off your back are incredibly rare.

Almeida did great against Blaydes until he got KOed lol. Really impressive trips/throws, I think he could win that fight more often than not if he's careful not to get stuck and pounded on like last time.

I think maybe he just overlooked Blaydes, kinda like I did. Then ate a dozen hammer fists to the side of the head without reacting... Odd one for sure

Spivac is a pretty good grappler, but not good enough in my opinion, and the athletic difference between these two is pretty big. I think Almeida finishes him in 2 rounds.
