First off I've never done it, second that ring on the bottom covering isn't on the bottom, get your foot cought in the bottom while spinging(it's not rocket science) and have it bind. I live on the lake in Canada my family own a marine/tackle store (I might be out there more than most) I've seen ot happen twice on a leg and once through a boot.
Plus half the augers used are 50+years old.
I don't know how the fuck your little mind can't grasp this.

Cutting through a boot is even more stupid. It stops spinning once you let go of the gas lol. You’re acting like it happens all the time, and by your own admission you live on a lake, and you said you’ve seen it 3 times. I guess your brain is just too big for me lol.
