Jack Della Lost the Fight When He Jumped D'Arce

Let's be real, R2 was close.

Bassil landed the bigger shots UNTIL Jack started working the body - at that point, Bassil was almost done.

But Bassil pressed forward, shot a takedown, and JDM (ridiculously) jumped D'Arce.

He threw away an entire 2 minutes of a close round, and we're expected to score that round for JDM?!

Come on...

Jack's corner absolutely knew he'd lost.
I disagree!

Like I just said in PBP, if Hafez was a renowned wrestler like Colby, everybody suddenly overlooks Jack's bodywork in favour of a pretty dominant round for Hafez.
Yeah if this was Colby vs Jack, Sherdog would be complaining that the judge who scored it for Colby(Hafez) should never be allowed to judge again.

The rules literally say damage over control?
You just argued for why Jack won...
Jack doubled his sig strike count and nearly got him out of there. 10-9 JDM based on Damage over control

I think JDM won it,but winning this fight for either guy dont mean a whole lot, considering the circumstances and the way the fight played out. JDM was clearly more skilled, but kept making alot of mistakes that stretched the fight out.

Isn't that a bit of a weird argument to make, judges being frequently shitty is why JDM should have lost but technically according to the rules he should have won?

We have to at least pretend to amalgamate what goes on.

Time and again we see someone get grapple-fucked, and nobody complains if it's the guy that's expected to win.

That's my point.

JDM was expected to punch hard, so when he punched hard, it got overvalued.

3 minutes of beating the crap out of the opponent > 2 minutes of being a wet blanket

But yeah, dumb as fuck by JDM to do that at all. Probably took a few years off his coach's life

Fair argument that their might be an bias but 3 minutes of damage beats 2 mins of top control with a last minute half hearted sub imo. Rightfully so.

But that's it.

It wasn't 3 minutes of damage.

JDM very definitively lost the first minute, he ate the heavier shots to the head.

His body work was awesome, but condensed to a very small part of the round.

It's wrong to think he smashed Hafez for 3 minutes, he didn't. He lost some of those exchanges on the feet before taking over.

I'm factoring all that in, and scoring that round for Hafez.

pretty clear who didn't rewatch the round. JDM didn't beat shit for three minutes, he actually got edged on the feet for 2 minutes, then landed all of three or four scoring shots that didn't actually do any damage, then he got a weak sub attempt reversed and ended up pinned on the bottom for two minutes while wincing, which is an actual visual sign of taking damage. Take the names off of it and that's an L in any objective book.

I'd have to rewatch but JDM was clearly beating him on the feet and was doing significantly more damage, I don't think Hafez landed the better shots at all in the exchanges tbh. Coupled with doing nothing on top except for a last 10-15 second sub attempt means Jack takes it for me.

Sounds like you had Hafeez ahead before the takedown? Surely I'm misreading that.

I respect that, and I will still respect whatever opinion you give after a rewatch.

But I definitely would like to see you rewatch that round on Monday or whenever it's available on Fight Pass, and please do tag me!

Ngl mate I'll probs miss it in the short term as I don't have fight pass but I'll watch it before his next fight, hopefully against Brady, at 293 when it's free.

I agree. I was shocked when I saw JDM win. While I can understand it being a split decision, Hafez won the first round 10-8. It was a dominant first round. Not even close. 2nd round was still close, but Hafez edged him out 10-9. Third round was clearly JDM as Hafez was gassed out and was holding on for dear life so either 10-9 JDM or a really weak argument for a 10-8.

Hafez was robbed.

Yeah, I'm going to be interested in JDM's next fight no matter what, I'm not hating, and I'd love that Brady fight JDM called for :)

Hafez edged the first 90 seconds on the feet, but it was close. JDM's flurry of scoring shots shifted it slightly to him around the halfway point. The rest of the round was a washout W for Hafez. You can't win a round landing a few good shots that didn't show any visible damage and losing the other 4 and half minutes, not to mention ending the round on your back in visible pain.

Ngl I totally and utterly must have missed visible pain at the end, from what a 10-15 second loose attempt at an arm in triangle choke whilst still punching Hafez in the side of the head?
