When I see a fighter sign a contract that includes so many fights, I see a fighter who is not confident about becoming a champion. Why would you sign such a long contract if you think you will be champ in 2 or 3 fights and thus be in position to negotiate a much better contract?

The way title shots have been given out. 8 fights sounds about right for him to get a shot in that time.

its his final contract. im sure its decent. if he becomes champ even more. he is pushing 40. everyone seems to forget fighters need money just like all of us

Eh I think at this point he just wants to make sure he's compensated and that's like a lifetime contract for a guy whose close to 40. I bet it' pretty good money and I bet there's something in the contract that guarantees a title shot if he wins his next 2 or something like that.

Jacare signed a new contract??

Why isn't this being talked about more on the forums? All this gossip bs and troll threads, but no one wants to talk about big news.

I'm very surprised that he signed a deal before this fight. Surely he would have gotten more with a win.

These 8-fight binding contracts. Conor's in a pool of mess because he made this same mistake, signing an 8-fight deal before fighting Aldo.

Weidman on the other hand, refused to re-up going into the Anderson Silva fight... and went from 40k to 400k in his next fight with that new contract.

But hey, sometimes it backfires too... like with Roy Nelson. Took that stipe fight on short notice and refused to sign before hand... ended up with not only less that what the UFC offered him in the new contract he turned down, but also less than what he was making in his last fight. lol. Dana hates Roy.

He'll Camozzi his way into a nice little nest egg

i wouldnt go so far. he could be disappointed but told he has to put on a happy face. and disappointed doesnt have to mean its a poor contract either. it could just not be as much as he wanted.

the world is not black and white. at the risk of sounding cheesey, its 50 shades of grey and the world always seems to be fucking you

According to fightpredictor.com,this graph shows at what age fighters are at their peaks and valleys. Note the huge drop-off after age 37.

Yeah, the UFC shouldn't resign one of the top contenders at MW.

WTF.
