Had close fight with Cannonier,Whittaker,Romero and lost to Jan Pereira and Sean on the feet.

People overrated Izzys striking because he is bad matchup for Alex and he still lost to him 3 times.

Izzy is jabbable as fck has very poor boxing defence, bad boxing combinations, throws sloppy leaping hooks againt the fence and he doesn't have power too and doesn't attack the body

There are levels to striking in MMA and Sean showed that he is at a much higher level than Izzy offensively & defensively

Sean proberly expected Izzy to be at a high level of striking when they fought but it seemed that Sean was at a level that far exceeded Izzy

Yes, Izzy is overrated, all his opponents were bums, MW division is shallow crap… ye we get it. Very original take, happens only ten times after any UFC event where the champion gets defeated.

Mmm, I don't know about far exceeded. Sean was definitely on point though. Plus, Izzy was like 75-5 kickboxing, I'd say he's pretty damn good.

Whittaker and Romero were indeed close and even controversial decisions but Israel vs Canonier was 50-45 across the board

What if...and this is going to be a fucking retarded take so be prepared....the dudes he was fighting in title fights weren't so bad themselves?

Because it seems like Izzy's had a pretty great career from my casual perspective.
No he doesn't

Well obviously when you are that big of a favorite then lose like that you were overrated. Not sure how this is even debatable. He was massively overrated it’s just a now proven fact.

Strickland was underrated
I agree still is. I’m not even saying Izzy isn’t great. He just had this massive hype train. Kind of like Chuck Liddel back in the day was overrated this is kinda similar. Dude is really good just not as good as people think.

Izzy is rubbish, there's a reason he's never won a belt in my backyard fighting competition.

Maybe ... just maybe...he's really good. But not an unbeatable genetically bred super human like the UFC hype machine tries to make their current champs look like?

I swear, I always thought it was a joke or blown out of proportion when people would say that whenever someone at the top level loses Sherdog goes and say they were never that good. But goodness gracious, this is crazy.

How can you even try and discredit Izzy when the opponents you listed that gave him problems are elite strikers or ex champions themselves.

Robert Whittaker has knocked off contenders consistently until the DDP fight. Kelvin Gastelum has one of the best boxing fundamentals in the division, Alex Periera is Izzy's kryptonite, and Cannonier is no slouch either.

Because Izzy isn't a boxer.

Neither fight with Whittaker was close. Cannonier was not close

It’s unbelievable to me that he allowed Sean to constantly walk him down, and back him up, while throwing no punches. Izzy should’ve moved laterally, not backwards, and at times planted his feet and blasted sean with hard jabs. And when he wasn’t doing that, he should’ve had his jab in Sean’s face non-stop.
I can’t believe what I witnessed.

imagine Terence Crawford being pushed back and pressured all night, by a guy in a weak Philly shell that’s not throwing punches!

People tried to make Silva comparisons but Silva was ancient and he held his own v a much younger lion. Izy is the ultimate paddy cake fighter.

Adesanya did not really have an off-day, Strickland was just better.

Constant pressure, pushing Adesanya back against the cage, walking him down, it was GLORIOUS.

oh....one more thing.... is Dreyga2000 a.k.a. Dreyga-Whatever-His-Name-Has-Changed-to-This-Week alive??? Is he on suicide watch after his beloved weirdo Adesanya got the f'ing brakes beaten off him? F that guy.
