Izzy coming off a loss

Adesanya is 35 and coming off an rough loss where he got outclassed by a guy he was supposed to beat. He then took time off which might not be the best thing for a guy in the twilight years of his career. He’s also coming overly emotional into a fight where he’s got more to prove than just in the cage, a lot of pressure which he put on himself to live up to.

Dricus, on the other hand has got the momentum. Coming off of a win and now fighting the guy who’s been jawing at him for a while now seems to lit a fire under the guy. He’s beat the guy who beat Izzy and is coming into this fight more confident than ever.
I dunno. Izzy was just as emotional going into he Poatan rematch and he ended up KO'ing him stiff despite Poatan's momentum. Obviously DDP could very well beat Izzy but I just see Izzy finishing DDP. I just have a feeling.

Hey Izzy’s proven me wrong a bunch.
But what I also see in that fight is a guy who was losing pretty handily until he landed the perfect counter shot. In the Strickland fight he looked like he lost a step as well.

Skill alone I think he’s a better than DDP, but father times comes for every fighter and I think Izzy’s time is up. I hope we get a good fight on Saturday and not a boring jab fest.

2 fighters coming off losses getting title shots Izzy and Stipe. Who do they think they are Holly Holm?

UFC is dying confirmed.

I mean DDP should be confident he is the champ. With Izzy tho, he shouldn't feel the pressure as a challenger because he has been there before.

Depends on Izzy's psyche. Maybe the loss drives him to come back fiercer this time. He got his revenge on Poatan after losing his belt to him, after all.

PS. Thanks for reminding me that Izzy is coming off a loss, it gives me another bit of ammo to use in the threads bewailing Stipe-Jones...

He was losing the Poatan rematch convincingly before landing the knockout blow. That fight actually proved that he doesn't come back better from a loss, he came back and looked much worse against the same fighter despite the outcome.

It's also worth noting that coming into that rematch he actually had alot of positives from the first fight to help build himself back up mentally. The Strickland fight is a barren wasteland of anything remotely positive for him to carry into this fight.

I agree. I thought Poatan was smashing him and got baited and made a huge mistake in that second fight.

But what positives did Izzy have coming into that fight? Mostly just rocking him in the first round of the first fight

Definitely rocking him in the first round and I feel like he controlled the fight more and was en route to a decision win even if he wasn't winning by a wide margin. Out grappled him a bit even if it went nowhere. Hell even just the fact that it was a competitive fight is something to help clear the mental hurdle coming into the rematch.

Never liked Izzy
I like to style at first, and I like that he he's not embarrassed to be different but I really don't like the content of his character

I don't really like DDP but he seems like a cooler guy and it seems like he'll be a better champion
