I've Just Shattered My Ankle

Hey, me too! They told me it's rare to break bones above or below the knee and tear out the knee, because the breaks allow so much motion. I broke practically everything in my right leg. How is your leg now?
Fuck, that's terrible.

Uh, 6 operations, two doctors, 3 years, no 4. I should've made it 5. The 2nd doc gave some injectable for old arthritic hags to induce bone growth. It did, but looks like a tumor. I wanted to ride again and was retiring, said fuck it doc, pull this shit out, give me a fake knee. Let's fucking go!

And he did. But 6 months later, the femur compressed, and i lost an inch, (what she said!) I should've given it an extra year, but who knows these things. That's healing in your 50s.

I play tennis. Albeit, I'm attacking motherfuckers from the ins0623191601a_HDR.jpg0628191014b_HDR.jpgtant the ball's in play. If they can beat my McEnroe angles and make me move, they'll win, if not, doom on them!

I can't risk racing motocross ir desert any longer, but i can rooty poot trail ride in the mountains, so there's that.

This past Saturday i was walking through the kitchen, quickly turnt left to go into another room, when one of my legs gave way, and i dropped straight on my arse! I didn't slip or trip on anything, i have no idea why it happened. Just came down like a sack of spuds.
So i was sitting on the tiled floor thinking, well that didn't hurt, went to get up and screamed! I just couldn't get up. I spent the next hour laying on the kitchen floor avoiding the pain of moving. Ended up scooting along the floor on my bum, pulled myself on to the bed and fell in and out of sleep.

The next day i called a friend, she came around and convinced me to go to hospital, and she called for an ambo. Did x-rays, put a cast on my leg[which was incredibly painful even with the happy gas.] then i was transferred to a larger hospital.
Spent two day laying on my back in the worst pain i've ever felt, and bored out of my skull.
Yesterday i started using crutches for the first time ever, don't like them! I was discharged and a mate took me home. The unit where i live is up a flight of steps.

The outside part of my right ankle is shattered and in many pieces. The inner ankle has multiple fractures. Even the slightest movement is unbelievably painful.
Next week i'll be having an operation to have some plates screwed into place.
I asked the surgeon if i'd still be able to continue with my long established ballet career? His reply? "No fuckin' way, you bastard!!!"

I must admit i'm worried about the operation. I expect there will be life-long consequences from this 'accident.' Permanent pain, a change in the way i walk?

It's the early hours of the morning here in Oz. First day trying to get around my home on the crutches. Don't know how i'm gonna do little everyday things like cooking, laundry, etc. I guess i'll be eating lots of cold, canned food. I do have some friends who live close by, they said they'd help.
Feeling really down.
Wow, sorry to hear dude, that's really fucked. Crazy amount of damage for what sounded like a minor slip. Hopefully you're stocked up on some nice liquid painkiller.

Nice bike, I had an old dual carb xr600r back in the day. I have a dr650 now and a shovel and a sv1000.
I'm ok on the street but intersections sometimes get to me and my foot shakes. I lost off-road confidence in sand. I lost a lot of range of motion, my right leg deformed now and weak. I also cut some height, went from 6'2" to 6'. No sports for me ever again, I also broke both arms when I broke my leg

Crutches suck, ask for a scooter you just rest your knee on it, works great for ankle injuries.

Good news is I got dibs on your stuff.

Bad news is, it's gonna suck for a long ass time.

Be glad it's bones and not the ligaments that got fucked up. I tore some in my ankle just over 3 1/2 years ago and I still have pain every gawd damned day and probably will for the rest of my life thanks to nerve damage. I am actually seeing the pain management doctor tomorrow to see what the next set of meds that won't do shit they want to put me on.
smoke weed do intense exercise. problem soved

Gotdamn.

Ah, i forgot those old 600s had 2 carbs!

I put a keihn fcr mx 40mm on my 650l. Its so much easier to fuck with at altitude than the cv bullshit.

Are you old like me or something?

Not advice. I developed soft bones from sitting at a desk 12hrs a day for 25 years. Why I broke dp easily.

I take D3,
Vitamin k2 -mk7
B1
Nac
Flaxseed oil

Off and on mk677, (beware and look it up to decide if you're ok with risks. Couple weeks low dose prolly ok)

Fuck anything that promotes bones i've tried or am taking.

Sucks paying $150 for a shoe list that wears out in 7 weeks to play bozo tennis, but that's the price of ade and adventure.

I just got this thing. 2018. 719 original miles, $5500.

1st time ever owning a suzuki, after 50 yesrs of only Hondas.

44. Retired now. It sounds stupid but I don't know what I can say about my job, I was never debriefed. I'm built pretty stout but still broke over 25 bones in that 1 accident. My lack of confidence in sand is from me worrying about what happens if I fuck up. I'm not bouncing back like I used to. I'll consider a knee replacement when the kid is older

I have shoe problems now too.

Dr650 I swapped a Mikuni hsr42. I like it, the airbox is so cut up to flow what that big carb needs now . I have 2 quadzillas and the 2 Suzuki bikes. i love sportsbikes but I can't ride them for long and I'm slow to get my right leg down in an emergency. That's a nice GSX-R. Clean

Man, i know that feelin. Injuries are for the young.20231120_203204.jpg

Sounds like a bimalleolar fracture (both sides of the ankle) from low energy trauma, so as long as the weight bearing cartilage of the pilon is intact you should be fine in three or four months.

Get well sherbro.

I have that scar on the side. A lot of your scars match mine but different locations. I set off metal detectors into the red now. The funniest is I set off undercart sensors at grocery stores. The cashiers always popped their heads out to look, I had to ask why

The Fentanyl jabs gave me a good rush, but didn't last too long.
I was sent home with Oxycodone and those blood thinner injections. Where's the fuckin' heroin???
When sucking back that happy gas while they were putting the cast on, i couldn't stop smiling and going on about how great Pink Floyd would sound right now, especially The Wall album. And then ladies and gentlemen, the laughing stopped!

I feel ya...Bosworth fracture back in '13. Plate and screws... Thankfully the surgeon did a great job and that's the only part of me that didn't hurt after a half marathon.

White belt foot sweeps on the plate hurt like he'll though and make me go full punishment mode

Were you in a race or just fuckin around?

Did someone help you or you managed it all by yourself?

<Kpop775>

Please tell me you were wearing some Aoki pants at the time

I was legitimately doing this whenever I had to go to the bathroom when I had my bloodclot last year, though I had to keep my left foot crossed over my right knee.

Sorry for your situation TS. Sounds like a terrible stroke of luck.
