ITT: Things that traumatized you as a child

When I was about 5 or 6 years old , just moved into this new neighborhood...met the local kids and was having a good time...we were playing tag...and I tagged this kid....

he proceeded to go home and tell his parents that the "new kid beat him up and pushed him down."

His mom comes out and proceeds to cuss me out...after I recover from that, 25 minutes later his father comes out and says, "who's the guy that picked on my boy?? He cusses me out (never heard a grown up swear before)...he then punctuates the conversation by saying, "...boy...if you were a little older I'd kick the living shit out of you..."

this fu*ked me up for a long time.

My mom had a solid streak of white trash in her. She tooke to see scaryovies at the theatre when I was like 8 and up just to spite my dad after they got divorced. Yep, she's an idiot. Funny it never bothered me though, at least consciously. I was tough to scare. Not so much now...

A Nightmare on Elm Street.

I spent the night at a friends house when I was like 6. My mom new they had the movie and told me not to watch it. So I get there and first thing he asks is if I want to watch it. I had nightmares about that movie for years.

Dark Crystal and Watership Down = one traumatic child.

Whats wrong with Watership Down? I loved that ish.

edit - just watching the WD highlight video with the creepy music in the background. In retrospect I guess that is pretty heavy. I liked it in highschool though.

Your brothers are hilarious!
Thank god you aren't a child of the 2000's!

Lmao yes thank god that's a very scary thought and I am a Zane not a Mike.

By the way I was no older then five watching Friday the 13th with my brothers.

They got me good my entire childhood. The day I came home from school with my first homework assignment ever they grabbed me while I started to work on it and duct taped my knee to my head.

I had a fear of our dark dank basement. Because well i was afraid of the dark and the house was a hundred years old and the fucking basement was scary.

They got me multiple ways with the basement. One time they hand cuffed me to one of the support beams with legit cuffs and turned the lights out and left me for a bit. A more creative time they got me to show my oldest bro that I could fit into our dogs travel case/ cage thing. When I got in they lock the door and slid me down the stairs shut out the lights and slammed the door shut.

To be fair, sounds like you were a pretty dumb kid. Awesome story though, haha.

That sounds effed up. Big time. I knew some parents like that but not to that extreme. When I was about 11 this guy in like Grade 12 grabbed me by the jaw/chin and squeezed it forcing me to look straight into his eyes. He was squeezing it as hard as he could. I hadn't even done anything to the guy. When he finally let go I went home as soon as I could, crying all the way. I told my dad and he called the Grade 12ers dad and his dad denied his son did anything.

it must have been something that happened when i was so young i couldn't remember, but when i was about 3 i was always worried that 1930's style hitmen were going to come into my house and kill me and my family.

I sat next to a fucking Tarantula in science class. Got mad case of arachnophobia now

Dude that's awesome, your brothers were pretty rough but it definitely toughens you up in a hurry lol. I bet Thanksgivings at your house have to be pretty entertaining with all the stories you guys probably tell.

Yea it does there are a ton of stories. And as Soma said I guess I was a bit dumb but I was at a serious disadvantage. The nearest brother to my age is 8 years older.

Extra story. When I was 4 my family was going on vacation to the Cayman Islands. I was being left behind with my grandparents because I probably would have been too much extra baggage. So as my family files out of my grandparents house my brother Zach tells me that I was being left there because Mom and Dad didn't love me anymore and they weren't coming back for me. That one fucked me up for quite some time until they finally got to a phone to call. Probably had him in hot water for the entire vacation though. In an era with Cell Phones that prank never would have been able to phase someone.

idk, as a kid i was always afraid of being kidnapped. now im 19 and im always worried that someone is going to step to me and im going to have to fight all the time. i went to middle school and high school that were in the ghetto as shit part of town, and being a white kid i had to prove how tough i was all the time. it sucked. now i got social anxiety and im always worried that someone is going to try me. but then im pleasantly surprised how nice people are and that honestly 99% of people you meet arent out to get you :icon_chee so its got its cons and pros haha
