BJJ It's kind of crazy that, arguably, the greatest BJJ grappler of all time is an American dude bro

He is very good...but a few things also:

1 - He is juice monkey, considered cheating in most sportsView attachment 1099805

2. He is breaking the BJJ tradition, that you got to at least fight MMA a few times to prove what you got works in real fighting

3. He is still young and has time to lose. Too early to say if he will end his career considered the best.
He is slow and clumsy with striking, would do horribly in mma. He used to lie to himself he would be ufc champion, but got wiser.

Thats a very weak excuse. Really the true question here from a  grappling perspective is does my grappling work when people are trying to punch me on the ground.
It obviously doesnt prove anything if he just gets KTFO standing trying to strike or initiate a clinch like what basically happened to Roger, other than affirming what we already know that BJJ or any one style isnt enough on its own.

What he really can do to answer this question from a purely combative grappling perspective is he needs to fight a fellow grappler in MMA who will grapple with him.

Be that Sambo, BJJ, Judo, Catch, a fighter who will tie up with him and then when they hit the mat or even just in clinch, will his grappling translate?
Think of Fedor nulifying Nogs guard from on top.
Unless he answers this question, he ever will remain a pampered and protected Amercian golden goose selling videos, and shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Combative grapplers who tested themselves in the arena of real fighting IMO.

Goes to show how good werdum translated to mma. Maia is probably the best
example of pure Bjj in mma, but werdum was more successful and had such a good guard he was able to throw whatever kicks he wanted to because guys were so afraid of going into his guard. Same with nick diaz back in the day, they had a good blueprint

I'd sleep that dude. That bjj shit don't work on me. You don't know my mentality bro.
I bet he doesn't even kick 55 MPH

Also he relies heavily on peds, so could never join a testing pool.

does he compete nowadays ? Last I heard he has stomach damage from steroids

lol 56 KOs in single tourney.....

I'd forgotten this dummy claimed the Kumite was a 60-round single elimination tourney.....rofl
Yeah, he wasn't very good at math. 7.2 x10^16 people in that tournament if he actually had that many KOs (just 56 rounds)... so roughing 10 million times the population of Earth.

He knows he's in deep shit when the Gorn eats both that AND the Judo chop to the neck like a cheeseburger.
So which grappler should or would Ryan have to guts to face in MMA, Judo chops and all?
