It's a good thing UFC signed with Paramount+

I just saw a commercial for Disney/Hulu/ESPN+ for $30/month. That is crazy. I just signed up for a black friday deal for Disney/Hulu for $4.99/month and HBO Max for $2.99/month both for 12 months. I can't imagine why suckers would pay $25/month EXTRA just to add ESPN+

Thoughts?

Streaming has become a big scam
Yeah every company is nickel and diming us to death.

Disney is using the old low introductory price trick, where they slowly creep up the price and hope you're not paying attention.

Amazon prime is doing the old trick that cable used, where you paid for a service with no commercials, and once you're used to paying, they start including commercials anyway.

Netflix is still my favorite, because at least they created a new cheaper tier with ads that you could opt in to, instead of just trying to force you to watch ads for your current tier that you're already paying for. It's a subtle difference from what Amazon did, but it shows how Netflix at least tries to make their customers happy. While Amazon and Disney are like, "we don't care if you hate us, you'll pay us anyway."

What are these “subscriptions”, you speak of?

Do you mean you spend real money to watch tv, and shit?
I do for the Wife and Kid, but i would be fine with using my Usenet/Nzb planet $5 unlimited account to DL anything i want. But the Wife and Kid want these services, and the Wife gets what she wants. I am too old to argue.

Those are Ad-supported tiers only. No premium features…

For example, with Max at the $2.99 rate, you get the “Basic with Ads” option -> that generally means lower video quality (no 4K, 1080p only) and fewer features like offline downloads and less devices or simultaneous streams.

Might be fine for you but wouldn’t work for me and many others like me who prefer higher quality, no ads and more device support.

Paramount has already said they are going to jack up the price, and if they get WBD it will go even higher
Yup forgot to mention this as well.

I get Paramount+ free via a work perk but don’t think I’m interested in paying much. Let’s see what their strategy is.

Spotify is increasing prices cause Music Industry executives are complaining about inflation.

Greedy bastards.

ESPN+ (and now “unlimited”) is the worst. Not only do they continually increase the price, but the app is inexcusably bad on all platforms and there is essentially zero content outside UFC if you don’t also have live ESPN through another provider.

Paramount+ is better in every way.

My sister and her man have like every streaming service, it’s crazy
I dunno how much they spend lol
I still rock basic cable with added sports package
and get the odd sports streaming service like MLB.TV when it goes half price a couple months into the season

Yes, they have ads. But i was paying $19.99/month for the same Ad service. I tried their Ad free service but its a scam. I was still getting 2 minute ads every 10 minutes on all my favorite History channel shows. No thanks. Ad Free is a scam for suckers.
