It was injury more than age that caused Tyson to perform so badly against Paul

Good breakdown of how much worse Tyson looked at 58 when he fought Paul compared to when he was 54 and fought Roy Jones Jr and was moving much better.

TLDW: it was the ulcer that almost killed him a few months back that made him become so decrepit.

Has it already been four years since the RJJ exhibition?

<damn>

His knee blew in the 1st round he had no movement as soon as he walked in with a knee brace it was over

I don't get why people are so reluctant to just admit that a 58 year old Mike Tyson had no chance of winning.

RJJ the age difference was 3 years.

Almost died in June. 8 blood transfusions.
mike is such a drama queen, maybe that was true, maybe it wasn't. Mike has had it all, broken back, vd before a fight, assorted colds and flu's, car wrecks, rape trials, all effecting his ability to fight. Who the hell knows what's what with Michael.

And that's exactly what happens to old men who try to do sports. They get injured.

yeah this video seems to blame the ulcer but I think it was the knee. He never had knee problems before, never wore a knee wrap, and suddenly he's able to still slip punches but has zero footwork? That's a knee issue.

He didn't want to mention it because clearly the fans would scream that he's making excuses, but his knee was clearly fucked.

I bet he has a knee surgery in a few weeks that doesn't get a lot of media coverage.

Do I want to see him fight again after his knee is healthy? Hell no. The dude's 58. Once his knee is healed he'll probably fuck up his shoulder, or back, or whatever. 58-year olds can't make it through a training camp healthy.

The thing about being old is that when you're injured, that's just a part of your life now. My grandmother slipped and broke her hip years ago and she's still in a wheel chair and she will be for the rest of her life, because at that age, you just can't heal and recover.

Agreed. He looked off beside the age.
He looked nothing like he did against RJJ something was definitely up

Jesus christ.

Do any think that being old as fuck has SOMETHING to do with the likelyhood of being injured and the inability to recover from injuries?

Blaming injuries instead of age is like saying you don't die from AIDS you die from a wrecked immune system.

He's pushing 60, recently hospitalized for an ulcer, and suffering from unspecified injuries. The question shouldn't be Why did Mike do better, it should be something more akin to how did they get Mike's remains to move around for 8 rounds? Give the old man some credit.

It was scripted, no more no less, and they both made bank.
