Economy It pisses me off that Liberals do not want to cut the budget AT ALL

In regards to the 3 bullet points:

—I feel we’ve done that. I think we had something potentially great with Pete’s “Medicare For All Who Want It” plan. Obviously that wasn’t enough to make Pete the nominee, and Biden had other healthcare ideas. I think we need to find a viable candidate, and revisit that plan.

You hit it. The key is the viable candidate. It can be revisited and I think people would support it but the delivery from the right person is key.

—This goes hand in hand with the first one. I don’t think there’s a viable way to make the ACA better (red states will refuse to implement certain things yet again and we’ll be in this same position).

So think of something different than the ACA. The thing is you don't need all red states to implement it at first. They will be apprehensive to come along. Start and build support with blue and purple states. In most changes in life there will always be those that are a slow to implement. I mean, for example, think about the 2008 election. The economy was in the dumps and even with as awful as McCain/Palin was as a ticket there were still states who resisted and voted for them even though Obama/Biden was the "better" ticket.

—GOP will never support this. The Republicans Party is too closely tied to Christian nationalists and Christian Zionists. In fact, we saw many conservatives who had decried the foreign aid to Ukraine, who said it was an “over there” problem, immediately ch aged their tune once Hamas attacked Israel.

But as a party you have to distinguish yourself. Kamala did that horribly. Dems are not going out war Repubs as the pro war party. They have got that on lock. Dems come out and say they are for Israel but against the war and genocide, and then send Israel billions of dollars in aid. The Dems response towards the war at this point is like saying I'm against domestic violence but I need to hit my wife sometimes. It makes no sense.

come on what? show me USAID payouts going to Elon or Trump from the open source data, or I'll STFU. until then, it's fraud, corruption, and liberals can keep losing for as long as they want. MAGA country bitch.
Just no need for the insults. Some decent left leaning peeps in here. Plenty of trolls as well but thats on both sides.. I'm on the right and right there with you on any kickbacks. The burden of proof is on them for that. If the dnc or dems in congress had any inkling of this they would be pushing for an investigation etc. So far this entire thing is just a push to discredit doge efforts. My dad legit thought Obama was going to take the guns away and evidenced because he couldnt find .22 bullets. This stuff always happens. Cheers man

I think you are very, very wrong. Trump is, right now, bypassing congress. He is, in essence, acting like a King, with the executive branch holding absolute power.
He said he is pushing the doge stuff back to congress. I posted the video. Will see but I think thus far it will be fine.

He needs to undo lots of things that had been allocated by congress. How about the $80m he stole from NYC? That was straight thievery. The truth is that I don't trust Trump one bit and no one should. He "said" he is pushing it back to congress? Has anything stopped? Are we to take his word for it?

TL/DR-Trump's lying.

Will see. The money was allocated for the purpose of migrant housing. Doesn't specify nyc. But... I do think they should give nyc the money with the caveat that they do something else than the Roosevelt etc until the feds can get to it.

The process will be that it goes back to congress on a lot of this stuff. Trump can't reappropriate the funds. We all know there is a lot of waste in the bills. Whether congress will consider reappropriating the funds I cant say.

If trump is lying then we can revisit. I'm ok with that brotha.

The Dems are also facing being on the wrong side of immigration in sanctuary cities. People like AOC and Chicago Mayor blocking ICE and hiding illegals including criminals, goes against what the people want. The Bronx residents protested illegals from the start. They already have their own issues with poverty and lack of resources. Chicago Mayor has a 15% approval rating. They are also still hung up on DEI. The Majority have shown they don't give a shit about it. The Dems have to be a voice of the people, not progressives. This is a huge uphill battle at this point.

Actually if I remember correctly not only did Biden and Obama deport more immigrants in their terms I think one or both of them deported more immigrants than Trump did his first term. I know Biden actually surpassed Trump's record for deportations in 2019. This gets overlooked. Repubs always sound harder on immigration but in the past few years Dems have been the harder group towards illegal immigration.

You say Dems are hung up on DEI but as far as I can tell Dems aren't hung up on anything but bad leadership and no policies. If they weren't hung up on that Hakeem Jefferies wouldn't be the House Leader for the Dems.

Never saw that show but any popular show is likely a good one. Loopholes are closed with tax code changes. I hated some of the ones they rolled out like removing tax breaks for mortgage interest etc. I'm cool with closing any loopholes. Doubling of the irs workers and 80B more in funding not so much. Replacing aging workers shouldn't take that much. I'm willing to discuss bud.

Remains one of my favorite shows of all time.

This is a lot of (short) clips but I hope you watch them. The quality of the acting was unparalleled on television at the time.

This goddam update.

Killed my links.

Here are the rest.

Alda as Vinnick was supposed to win the election in the final season, but the death of a beloved actor on the show would have made a Santos loss too depressing.

The kicker here is that's he's devout, but refuses to to an evangelical service to win votes.

Will give a watch and report back. Thanks. I haven't had network tv for years but see it's on HBO now.

It was FEMA money allocated by Congress to NYC. This is where I want level-headed people like you to see what Trump is doing is straight-up illegal. FULL STOP. There is nothing else to talk about. And what do you mean "Congress can reappropriate the funds"? They have already been appropriated. It's a done deal.

The migrant issue is maddening. The GOP has no interest in fixing the problem because they know it will rile up their base. The fact that the DEMs and people on the left want migrants to be treated like human beings gets us painted as "soft" on immigration.

<Prem973>

Musk is NOT getting payouts from USAID, that’s why he’s fine to kill it.

DOGE is about to put focus on Dept of Energy. Will they kill the BILLIONS in subsidies that Tesla gets? I wouldn’t count on it.

Is Elon going to stop seeking the $885 million dollars in subsidies he wants for SpaceX/Starlink—a company that would likely have failed if not for subsidies? Don’t hold your breath.

Tesla, a company that brought in 2.3 BILLION in income in 2024 and paid ZERO in taxes, is STILL lobbying for more handouts and subsidies!

While I am supposed to be angry about a bunch of agencies’ combined Politico Pro subscriptions that total 8 million over 9 years, Elon Musk gets $8 million PER DAY
From taxpayers.

DOGE is a fucking scam. Musk and Trump are fraudsters, and grifters. If they want to find the fraud and waste, all they have to do is look in the mirror.

Sure, we can try to do something about loopholes. Sometimes they aren't actually loopholes, though. Like "so and so didn't pay taxes" when they technically had little to no income while their corporation paid taxes on the income it made. Thats not every case, obviously, but sometimes theres very legitimate reasons for these things. Thats even beside the point that I wouldn't even try to argue to being knowledgeable about the absolute labyrinthine maze that the corporate tax code is.
Could you agree at least that dying while rich should be much more expensive than it currently is? Passing on wealth to children is fine but at a certain point it's in the country's interest to not creat an aristocracy.

There are a lot of panic attacks over this stuff. But I don't think Trump wants to be king, I don't think even if he wanted to that congress, legislature and military would all follow him to destroy our system. It's the same panic as the first time just different things being pushed.
You don't think the guy who illegally tried to stay in power wants to be king? That's some Hindenburg-esque naivity.

You will be greatly disappointed as this push by Doge to cut government spending is being done solely to cut spending so the Tea Party republicans who STILL vote against any new debt (requiring Dems to constantly give votes for Contuing Resolutions) so they will then vote for the tax cuts for the rich and increase the debt ceiling.

THis is not about Clinton like fiscal responsibility and if you think so you will be very disappointed.
That is a concern of mine.

So far Doge is doing a great job and I am optimistically excited. These last few weeks have been very successful. It is awesome watching them cut all this excessive waste. I used to serve in the military, I know all about government waste. I am a huge fan of the Doge program.

But yes, if Trump turns around and blows all that money that was just saved, it makes it kind of pointless. Trump wasted a lot of money in his first term, as all of the recent Presidents have in both parties.

Trump would never be a great fiscally conservative President like Clinton by himself, but maybe with Elons help he can be.

The debt ceiling can not be raised, it needs to be lowered. Elon talks about the dangers in this. Elon cut spending in his own businesses and was tremendously successful. Trump made money by leveraging large amounts of debt, that is problematic to replicate in America.

So yes, a concern of mine is Elon doing a great job putting America in a great position and for Trump to turn around and ruin it. Or those two becoming enemies, which is another possible scenario.

Bill Clinton, our greatest fiscally conservative living President who balanced the budget could be put on Doge, get some bi partison support, or help in some capacity.
