Media Islam VS Dustin scorecard

Dustin had a fantastic performance. It's sad that this'll be his last shot at the title. Arguably one if the best not to get the unified strap. I'd love for them to make 165 and let him fight for the inaugural belt.

I re-watched the fight, anybody who had it 2-2 going into Rd 5 was scoring the fight purely on vibes lol. This is another Volk-Islam 1 situation, Islam’s opponents get graded on a curve if they do better than expected.

That would be a pretend weight division. 5 pounds. Just eat some food. Or better said it's wanted by people who can't grab the 170 or 155.

Islam just doesn’t wear it well. He outlanded Dustin, but still looked like he was getting his ass kicked on the feet.

He cuts and bruises easy, he also doesn’t have the best poker face. Looks like he’s constipated anytime he’s in a competitive fight. Those optics combined with the crowd rooting for his opponent, and the expectation that he should be steam rolling all his opponents stack the deck against him on fan scorecards. If you look at it from a non biased standpoint he wins vast majority of the rounds, there’s an argument he was 4-0 going into the 5th.

Yea man totally agree. I haven’t rewatched yet, but last night after quite a few beers, I was feeling like Dustin could have taken over at any second. I reckon that perhaps it wasn’t quite as close as I wanted it to be. Still a really good fight. Dustin has nothing to be ashamed of.

I had it "possibly" scored 2/2 going into the last round. THOSE 2 ROUNDS WERE CLOSE. Busting Mac open surely sways that close round, & in review of the other "sway round"... I give it to mac, but it was close enough that there was no robbery.

As I watched teh 5th, I really thought Dustin could've been pulling it off.

I had it 2-2 or 3-1 Islam going into the 5th.

That's the issue with close rounds. Completely changes who is winning.

Fighters should be told who is winning after every round so they know what they need in order to win.

Also why only 3 judges. Should like 9 so it limits the damage 2 bad judges can do.

I thought it was 2-2 going in to round 5.
Great fight though. I hope Dustin sticks around for another while. Maybe go to WW

The unified rules stipulate that inflicting damage is much more important than simply landing strikes and rightfully so.

Dustin landed an elbow that turned Islam's forehead into a goat's vagina.

The most damaging strike that Islam landed on Dustin was an illegal clash of heads.

I would liked to see one or two flying knees to try and catch islam on a shoot

165 makes logical sense and is present in other orgs. I think, regardless of Dustin, that 155, 165, and 175 is a better option. 155 and 170 are stacked with talent but the top 15 cannot support the level of activity required to keep new faces in the mix. 165 gives some of these fighters a place to go and gives us more fights in general
