No it doesn’t but let’s not pretend the UFC is a meritocracy. People get undeserved title shots all the time. There are many compelling reasons for Justin to get a title shot. The UFC rankings, which are an absolute joke, are not one of them especially when you’re talking about two people who are within 1-2 spots of each other in the rankings.
There’s no rule that says only the #1 or #2 ranked guy gets the title shot. Basically, anyone in the top 5 can fight the champion.

Yes, UFC does not do a good job of letting only deserving fighters challenge their champion. They are actually terrible at it.
But two wrongs do not make a right. I dislike when they do it, so I will fight against it every time.
I find it highly hypocrite when people want a shortcut to the belt only when it is their favorite fighter. Stay in line!
If you think your fighter is that good, then don't be so afraid to let him prove by climbing the rankings properly.
And let us not forget your mention of how they are close in rankings, because you are being very dishonest about it.
The ONLY reason Islam is that high is exactly because the UFC is pushing him up, and not because he really deserves it.
That is the same way they keep deserving fighters without title shots when they dislike them.
IMHO people need to stop with this hypocrisy, because it just adds to the problem.
But I am positive you will have no problem crying about some other fighter you dislike getting a title shot against someone you like in the near future (assuming your fighter gets to win a belt, of course).
