Islam makhachev and Leon Edwards getting a title shot while not beating top fighters

Expect about 20 threads a day after Islam beats Bobby about how he doesn't deserve a title shot, because he hasn't beat anyone in the top 5.
Mind you he will be on a 10 fight winning streak....but sherbros don't care.

Eh that's not how it should work.

Styles make fights and some match up favor fighters more than others.

Conor is a good example. Yeah he beat Aldo and Eddie but he had a VERY easy road at FW and literally no one at LW.

You have to run the gauntlet

This is not a real sport. It’s entertainment. There hasn’t been any rhyme or reason for how things should be in a long time. That said, I don’t have a problem with a would be champ cleaning out the division after becoming champ.

I never said it did. Leon won that fight via decision. But I wouldn't say it was a mauling.

I was just stating facts. It's very true that Leon was nearly finished by an old unranked LW Nate Diaz.
 
Both divisions are guilty of notorious ducking and unfortunate fight cancellations. You can't make these guys on massive win streaks wait forever while the same top 3 guys keep fighting each other again and again because they don't wanna risk losing their rank. Therefore, I have no problem with either getting a TS, they both deserve it.

Leon's steak has been pretty dominating even including the Diaz fight. Landing one punch that staggers your opponent with 12 seconds left but you're so beat up and tired because you've literally been getting your ass kick that you can't even make an attempt to capitalize on that punch doesn't mean anything.

Leon gets a title shot because everyone above him has already lost to Usman.

With Islam its more of a case that no one wanted to fight him. Can't fight a top 5/10 guy if they all refuse.

In my view 8 win streak and more should be rewarded with title shot

The only reason for not getting quality opponent is due to fighters ducking or pulling out
