Islam was moment away from completing the kimura in R1 which would have everyone salivating over his performance. That didn’t happen and he kept controlling the fight until something did happen. Mma striking includes TD threat. Just like setting up kicks with punches, you have to se up strikes with TD threats. If you can't due that then you're lacking in the striking element of mma.

Same thing in reverse. You grappling is lacking if you can't use strikes to enter into a takedown. It's all part of the game
