One title defense against a ranked LW opponent.
Funny take. When did one fight ever matter to the outcome of another fight? What happened tonight will never happen again. Islam was moment away from completing the kimura in R1 which would have everyone salivating over his performance. That didn’t happen and he kept controlling the fight until something did happen. He’s just too smart to risk it against a knockout artist like DP is.. I think Islam that showed up today doesn't beat Leon.
The mouth breathing may give a fake sense of how gassed he is.He was gassing though, some fighters don't wear fatigue very well on their face, Makhachev seems to have it, as does Mcgregor. He was looking almost like bout with Volkanovski
A lot of the notions with Makhachev has been proven wrong at this point.
He can't make 155....made it.
Can't do it outside of Abu Dhabi... did it. Twice in his 3 fights.
Doesn't fight top LWs...just did tonight.
Controlling the fight doesn't mean getting your face busted up especially against an aging fighter that is retiring.Funny take. When did one fight ever matter to the outcome of another fight? Right…. Totally Islam’s fault that Charles pulled out the rematch. Also, Volk weighed in 155 so that’s a LW fight. No one ever said Jan “beat a MW” when he fought Izzy. One title defense against a ranked LW opponent.

Man won 14 in a row, tied LW defense record, finished 7 out of last 8 fights. And all I hear I that he gasses and how max is going to beat him. I guess if Islam strangles Holloway, we’d just keep hearing how he beat another FW. It’s always something.
well mate, Im white , Australian , no denomination and completely irreligious, almost mockingly so ...and yet Im a fan of both . You dont have to actually talk about it , the posts joking about fucking goats, Ramadan , favourable weigh in /testing etc says it all, you surely cant be that naïve. Bang goes your theory though..perhaps you need to jog on yourself or wake up.Same goes for the love for Islam and Khabib. So it evens out.
More importantly, nobody talked about that here untill you two did so why don't you go take a walk.
He's great but he's not that good.
UFC is MMA, so yeah, arguably the best striker in the lw division.Plenty of guys. He finds success because of the takedown threat. You think he’d beat Poirier or Gaethje in a kickboxing match?
As much as Max’s looked great recently, Islam’ll be the favorite if they fight. Islam’s definitely taking the fight to the ground.Islam is really fucking good. He has arguably the best striking in the LW division, best all around fighter. Max has looked really fucking good in his last fight, Islam hasnt. Does it really surprise you that people want to see that matchup?
I would say that Islams striking is good, but nothing special. What makes it so effective is that people fear the takedowns so much.I said arguably. Mf was going tit for tat with Dustin. Knocked out Volk. Rocked my GOAT and sunshine Charles Oliveira. Who would you say is better?

Mma striking includes TD threat. Just like setting up kicks with punches, you have to se up strikes with TD threats. If you can't due that then you're lacking in the striking element of mma.Plenty of guys. He finds success because of the takedown threat. You think he’d beat Poirier or Gaethje in a kickboxing match?
