Height wise aside is there actually a massive size discrepancy? Volk is thick af but always seems size is exclusively used for Khabib and Islam to discredit them.

Islam will likely be around 180lbs. That's what the biggest lightweights weighed on fight night according to CSAC. Drew dober rehydrated up to 183lbs, for instance, and I'd say islam is in that ball park. Volk has said that he'll be 170lbs on fight night.

So yeah, there will likely be a 10lbs or so difference.

Csac released volk's fight night weight at FW, and it was 166lbs. To suggest that he'll be 160lbs at LW is crazy. He bulked to put on 5lbs for this fight and will try to be 170ish on fight night.

According to islam, when he fought Arman, he weighed 175.2lbs in the cage, BUT he mentioned that he didn't rehydrate as well as he wanted to, so who knows what he weighs on fight night when he rehydrates as well as he likes.

Human body needs over 3 days to fully recover from severe dehydration. You get the water weight back quite fast, but it takes time for the organs and brain to recover and of course the athletic performance will be not optimal for days.

Honestly Islam looked bad. Worse than ever. Prolly the first time he actually had to make 155 (I know there is still speculation about the scale not stopping).
Props to him if he can keep fighting and making weight as active as he has been blustering. 3 times a year and not in Abu Dhabi. That will be everything else than healthy.

Now I totally understand why Costa did not want to take the Whittaker fight in Perth. It was a good decision.
1. Pay is shit and you get the Aussie taxes on top of that.
2. Travel costs and time difference.
3. Difficult match up.

Plus he'd have gotten beaten like he stole something. If he can wait out his contract instead of having to fight his last fight I very much doubt we see him in the UFC again.

Have to compare it to other weight cuts. He looks like death to be sure, but guys often recover 100% for the fight and it doesn’t matter I.e prime Conor dying at 145

That was years ago and he def hasn't gotten smaller since then and now is moving up in weight. He should be north of 170 comfortably.
