Islam had a horrible weight cut

I mean Volk himself said he will be around 78 Kgs in the cage, which is over 170 pounds, but whatever makes you feel better.
Yeah Volk is like Khabib thick boned. Khabib was 176 in the cage.

"The weight cut was perfect. Everything was on point. I woke up in the morning with just 2.9 kg left to cut. [It was one of the best weight cuts of my career], but not the best one - I had some better weight cuts before. It was difficult, but definitely, one of the best. And I recovered very well, too. I managed to regain almost 22 pounds," Khabib said."I showed 155 lb on the scales, and on fight night - when I entered the cage - I weighed in at like 176 pounds. Ok, so I gained 21 pounds for the fight - it's a lot," he added.

Yes, Islam's weigh in was as clean as you could possibly get, he was perfect. No officials even close to touching the scale and it started at the bottom when his arms were raised and stopped completely level absolutely no oscillation above center at all. Whoever these people are you heard talking you should stop listening to because they are full of shit.

I think the criticism was based on how it had barely stopped going up before calling it, looking at the footage. But it definitely slowed down considerably, so there's probably not a real issue. They could have waited a second more, so it would have been a bit more clear, but not a big deal, IMO.

Volk has been pretty clear he wants to be just under 170lbs, the bastard always states in Kilos but I think its 168 he aims to be, Islam has been noted with his cage weight at 175lbs before, honestly I think talking lean mass Islam is probably 15+lbs bigger comfortably though, he gets his body fat percentage VISIBLY lower than Volk does, even at 145lbs, when Islam makes 155lbs.

Nah, he's always said 77 to 78kg which is 169.7lbs at the lightest. I followed this too closely lol

Either way, he's the smaller guy.

Fuck you're right on that, I thought it was 76 to 77kg. Still, lean mass wise Islam is bigger than Volk by a good deal, dude gets as lean as a bone to make 155, Volk doesn't even for 145lbs in the same way.

Around 13:10 he started talking about his weight and his plans. Basically says he's heavier than most featherweights as it is because he has big bones and he can retain a lot of water or something, then says he's up to 80kg (176.5lbs), but wants to fight at 77kg (169.51lbs), or 78kg (171.8lbs) so that he can keep his speed. He has been consistent about this in several interviews.

I've just always said 170 because it's easier. And yeah, islam is leaner. I don't look too much into appearances though. I've seen fat guys in this sport out hustle lean guys, and often hear about how some guys who look completely average are physically the strongest. Regardless, islam is bigger and it will matter when he's on top.

Volk looked good, slightly better than I expected even when they faced off. The whole fighting off the Dagestani dynasty is so interesting too. Islam at LW, Umar at BW, Ankalaev at LHW, Mokaev FLY, Usman Bellator LW and Timur Khizriev Bellator FW I think there's a good chance this all happens by some point in 2024. If Volk pulls this off he's going to be a fucking legend.

That is #1 Bullshit. You people are completely nuts So you are telling me despite Islam's extreme weight cutting giving him a huge advantage coming in significantly heavier and stronger than the lightweight opponents in his own division he is going to have no meaningfully size advantage over a midget FW? Think you idiots! Think!

What a polite and intelligent comment … did someone offend you?

I simply wrote that it seems likely Volk will be around 170 and Islam around 180 … which is clearly a weight advantage but not some huge difference (6%).

Nothing seems idiotic in all this … plenty seems idiotic in your tone of message.

Volk isn’t really a power puncher so I’m not worried about Islam’s chin. Honestly, not worried about his cardio either. If Volk outpaces him and wears down his gas tank, I wouldn’t blame the weight cut. I’d blame volk’s pace.

I’m still expecting Islam to get the takedown and getting a submission. But I’m really rooting for volk to win or at least make it competitive.

You should go actually watch the footage for the first time yourself and note how far away both officials were from the scale on Islam's weigh in never touching it and it clearly went from the bottom and stopped at center line absolutely no oscillation at all above center line much less get anywhere close to the limiter. There was no movement or touching of the scale at all. If you want criticism and question if the scale ever stopped go actually watch the footage yourself and see how close both officials were to the scale for Volk's weigh in and notice how he was hands on touching the scale the whole time before calling it. Not saying there was anything shady about Volks weight in either but they were certainly ready to fix it if there was while Islam's was as visibly clean as you can ever possibly get.

Cartiac is Islam's toy, confirmed.
He was like half a pound over. They always put the scale back way too fast when they know the fighter won't make it
UFC can't do 1 proper weigh in lately

Islam will likely be around 180lbs. That's what the biggest lightweights weighed on fight night according to CSAC. Drew dober rehydrated up to 183lbs, for instance, and I'd say islam is in that ball park. Volk has said that he'll be 170lbs on fight night.

So yeah, there will likely be a 10lbs or so difference.

Nobody is outting 30lbs on overnight.
Hell even Paulo Costa only puts on 20-22lbs sir.

Tell that to the california state athletic commission. I didn't make these numbers up. Dober weighed in at 183lbs on fight night according to them.

For reference, costa put on 27.8 lbs

If you follow the biggest weight cutters from the official fight night weights from CSAC, they usually add on from around 14 -18 percent of their body weight. Drew was the biggest weight cutter that they released information on, if I recall correctly.

Thanks, Im gonna have to do some research on this sir.

Pretty sure Drew was the biggest weight cutter that they shared info on, rehydrating like 18% above 155lbs.

I know that Costa is banned from fighting at 185 in California because he gained more than their allowed %...but Dober putting on that kind of weight without an IV is pretty nuts.

Pretty surprised I never heard about that, I do try and stay informed about weight issues and such.

Height wise aside is there actually a massive size discrepancy? Volk is thick af but always seems size is exclusively used for Khabib and Islam to discredit them.

Hard to tell.

Uh yeah. It's still rattling around. Didn't they do the exact same thing with Khabib? DC taught them the tricks of the trade
