Sorry pal but there is no miracle for the ''moderate'' rebels.

They lose lose Allepo and they cease being a threat.

No Assad will not be able to retake the whole of Syria but the rebels will never again be close to a position to topple Assad after they lose Allepo.

With muslims you kill and destroy enough then instill a dictator, work well enough. Assad will be hunting down rebels for years but they will be nothing but desert trash, he will hold cities with an iron grip.

They got raped in chechnya ..their regular army was woefully underprepared for actual combat (still is) , they had to rely on scorched earth air bombardment , hugely overworking their special forces and bribing local warlords with fucktons of cash (making one the top dog)

In this case its not really the same assad is less a strongman than a figurehead these days .....any hope of iron rule died when he became utterly reliant on foriegn troops to stay in power (2013ish)

I doubt it. They'll be too busy trying to rebuild their lives and their shattered cities. Part of the problem before is that they were never truly punished for their actions. I doubt they'd be looking forward to a round 2 with a much stronger and more experienced Iraqi military, and a highly militarised civilian population.

Their issue in Iraq is that they couldn't get the power back.

Which ignores the fact they came about due to political reasons causeing the first iraqi army to collapse , we are breaking them down as the sunni tribes are turning on them,kurds are mucking in and we have adressed some of the sectarian political issues and thus have built a new mixed iraqi army
But if that all falls apart were back to square one
