Here is what makes this whole situation insane. So lets say we take back Mosul, then what?
We re-arm Sunni military forces, so they can give them to ISIS when they come back?

Do we send Shiite or Kurdish troops in and threaten another civil war, when that turns back into revenge instead of policing?

How do we hold Mosul, when the people are loyal to ISIS, and letting other groups police there is a recipe for disaster?

Id say its a case of letting the locals police themselves and seeing the political situation doesnt get so bad people wouldnt turn to the likes of isis

Shit went sour before we left iraq but we didnt do shit to stop it decending

During Jr's GWOT JSOC made Iraq Delta's primary TO and Afghanistan was the Seals' primary TO (both had Ranger backup). Obviously there were Seals in Iraq and Delta in Afghanistan as well, but those were in relatively secondary roles for them. That is why Delta got Saddam, his sons and were tasked with countering Zarqawi and AQ in Iraq while the Seals got Bin Laden and the Taliban.

Team Green already knows the area, they already have the contacts and sources, they're the ones that are going to be best suited to operate in Mosul. Hell, Mosul is where Delta took out Saddam's demon seeds.

It'd be interesting if Seal Team 4 was sent back to Iraq. During the Iraq War, Team 4 was the heavy hitter for Task Force 17 which was charged with countering Iranian influence in Iraq. I'm thinking Team Blue might be looking for some payback.

Isis could never have had the succes that they had if the local sunni populace did'nt support them in some way.

Isis simply did what they thought about doing but where to cowardly to do themselves.

No but they need to collectively be held accountable in some way for their crimes of supporting it or just standing by like we did when we guilt tripped the fuck out of Germany after the defeat of the Nazi's. They are sympathizers. I would have no problem with mass exterminations of people who support evil but I know it's not a practical solution. The Sunni Arabs are human garbage.

I don't want to see anyone raped and murdered but i have no sympathy for those who stood by while people they lived next to for decades where raped and murdered and who in somecases activelly aided and abetted Isis.

If i was an Iraqi Shia Kurd or Yazidi i could never again trust any Sunni ever again and i would not tolerate any Sunni living next to me ever again.
