Isami BJJ Gi Review Updated

That's a nice looking gi... damn, I might have to get one... But I really like the gameness pearl...

i'm a gameness whore (i've got a single weave and a platinum) but the isami is winning the race imo. i love the fact that you can customize the patches.

I just got my gi in the mail! That was fast. I ordered on the 15th! Gi looks and feels great. It's the Badboy Isami...which is a single weave. I bought an A4 and I'm looking to just blast them in the dryer to shrink them down. I'm actually an A3. The site even lists the shrinkage percentages! I'll have pics and a review up soon.

yeah for international shipping, thats extremely fast. 4 days for me once it was shipped

Would be good if you can shrink the badboy down to A3 i would buy one??

sweet, this thread inspired me to get my buddy to write a review on the Isami Single weave (made in China) JJ-200 gi.

Im also very interested in getting the white Isami double weave gi....

I was hoping you could help me out a little Kid Dynamite...

Im 167 cm and about 75-76 kilograms...What size would you recommend for me?

different stores are using different sizing charts, unfortunately...

on chokesports.com and isami.co.jp i would get a 4L(keeping shrinkage in mind)....

but on other stores like hatashitasports.com , jujitsugis.com , discountmas.com , kodokangear.com ....they use the "A" sizing chart....In that chart, I dont know if I should get and A2 or an A3 (keeping shrinkage in mind)

So, what would you recommend?

also, while were at it, what would you recommend on the extras:

Sashiko fabric, Diamond fabric, or Hybrid fabric?
(i noticed that this choice can only be made if you order from isami.co.jp or chokesports.com)

What about patch color?

Id really like to thank you Kid Dynamite.....Ive been giving this matter much thought for some time now.....and youve really made my choice a lot easier for me :)

Sorry, I know this is an old post but I am really interested in this gi.

I had one question...How thick is the collar?

Size 4 or 4L, or maybe a mix of both. You should check the measurements chart on the ChokeSports.com page first because you can order jacket and pants in different sizes.

I personally prefer the JJ-410 Sashiko variation, but a teammate of mine recently ordered theJJ-400 Diamond and I was impressed with how soft it feels.

Also, I read somewhere that the collar is not a rubber collar. Can anyone give us more info on this?

Thanks

Kid,

It's been quite awhile since you got this gi. How is it holding up?? Still one of your favorites? You said it was in your top 3. What other two are in the top 3? Thanks.

Hi Folks,

I sell Isami gi, so I figured I could answer multiple q's in one post:

Collar is traditional; no rubber. Only Koral, Vulkan and Gameness Pearls have rubber collars.

The jj 410 is the best fabric/model as it is all sashiko weave, no lighter diamond weave skirt. The jj 400 is al diamond weave (too light) All Isami pants are the same cotton twill material.

If you want to get different front patch; it's usually extra. The green kimono patch is dope; I don't know why you wouldn't want it??? The jj 410 comes with the green front patch, wht/blk/red leg and shoulder patches and wht/blk/red butt patch.

I just got this gi in from budovideos. Jesus this gi is mad thin for a double. I compared it to a mizuno judo gi that some had in class. Not even close. Really comfy though and really soft.

About how much do these gi's weigh?

12 bananas...just kidding...I have no idea. I need to get a special scale or weigh myself butt naked and put it on then weigh myself again and do some complicated rocket science math, i.e. subtraction. But It weighs probably as much as my Atama single.

Is there any way to get an Isami Gi with the Reversal patches? Also, how can I order reversal gear from the website? Thanks

Hi. You can order the whole line of Isami BJJ Gis at ChokeSports.com Isami Reversal RVDDW. We also offer over 20 different patches from Isami and Reversal so you can customize your Gi and turn it into a unique item.

Right now we have a special discount coupon for Sherdog Forum users: enter "dog5" in the shopping cart or during checkout to activate a 5% discount (subtotal).

This offer expires on March 30, so hurry up!

I recently purchased an Isami gi from budovideos. They won't let you order different sized tops and bottoms, so of course the pants had to be way too big. they're too big in the crotch area, waist and about 3" too long.
Does anyone have any experience having their gi altered/tailored by a professional? Will this compromise the build quality/strength of the gi? I have the pants in the dryer now trying to shrink them up but it doesn't look like it'll be enough.

Thanks!
