I say this with all due respect but why should anyone GAF that you do not want the content owners to refresh their material every 10, 20 or 50 years for newer generations because 'you liked it as it was'.In particular, I am not a fan of changing the race of a main character for the sole reason to inject diversity into a role. It really pisses me off when it is based upon a book I read multiple times. For example, in Dr sleep, the little girl with all the powers is abra stone and she is desribed as a blonde girl and in the movie, she is black. Regardless, I loved the movie and think it does an excellent job, including the black girl playing abra-but initially, it oissed me off.
The book the passage by Justin Cronin has a little girl with powers named Amy and she is described as being white with dark hair and in the series, she is black. I just hate when you read a book multiple times (just finished listening to it in audio book a few weeks ago and I am working my way through the second book now) and you get a picture in your head and they take that picture and the source material and throw it out the fucking window for the reasons of a diverse cast.
Superman with a black actor?
It happens all the time, except making a black character white-that won’t happen like it did with black face and no movie that did that should be taken seriously. Hell, there was huge controversy over making tilda swinton the ancient one in Dr strange and there is even a name for it-white washing while in the same movie they changed an Asian dude in the source material for a black guy in the movie but there were no cries of black washing

It is absolutely nothing new for the face of spiderman or Batman, etc or whoever the owners of the art want, to get an update and new look in the hopes of reselling the same material to a newer and younger audience.
i did not care about the last Alien movie. It was 'alright' but basically just a doOver of the first movie. But the target audience, young people who did not see the original theatrical release of Alien loved it.
I did not love the Angelica Jolie, SALT movie. It was just alright. But my ex wife loved it saying it was one of the first big action female roles, like that she had seen.
I find the biggest complainers on these things are white males, who have had 99.9% of all prior material made and directed at them and who now cry when anything is remade for any one else. Seriously GTF over it and thinking the world should forever revolve around you.
I mean I'm Korean and I think all these race/gender swaps are lame AF.
They almost always are accompanied by dogshit writing too.
Just create new stories and new characters.
Oh noLol not even @Koro_11 liked this post, you're losing your edge.
Your entire premise is false because many of these woke catastrophes are popular with no oneI don't like many of them either, especially when it comes to changing the comic book characters i grew up with.
But it is not about us. Why should Marvel not introduce Miles Morales as Spiderman simply because we grew up with Peter Parker?
That is how characters in Comics, TV, MOvies end up dying off when they stop reinventing them and instead just keep trying to sell a slightly different story with the same character, that they have told dozens of versions of already.
The point being, it is up to the owner of the art to decide when they want to change it, and for us to whine and cry as so many here saying 'BUT THEY SHOULD ONLY CATER TO ME', is just so silly, especially when it comes from the group catered to for the past 100 years+.
are you saying the race of a character determines who the movie is made for ? because that is an extremely racist takeI say this with all due respect but why should anyone GAF that you do not want the content owners to refresh their material every 10, 20 or 50 years for newer generations because 'you liked it as it was'.

The problem you have is you are factually wrong.Your entire premise is false because many of these woke catastrophes are popular with no one
I did not say that but you would have to be daft to not understand that Hollywood (and TV), for over 100 years specifically their material to 'white people' and mostly 'males'. that simply is undeniable. And it is ok to do that as their entire business model is to look out at the buying audience and pander to that audience and white males controlled all the disposable income.are you saying the race of a character determines who the movie is made for ? because that is an extremely racist take
You find it LAF. I may also find it LAF. But what is also LAF is us thinking the owner should solely cater to us.Miles Morales is a completely separate character from Peter Parker in another timeline with his own unique backstory.
A more apt comparison would be them taking the same exact Peter Parker character with the same backstory and just race or gender swapping them. That's lame AF.
But they're not reinventing them. They're just rehashing the same exact story but just race or gender swapped.
It's not the original owner of the art doing it though. It's mainly Disney who bought up all the intellectual property.
You are like the woke world version of comical Ali from the Iraq warThe problem you have is you are factually wrong.
Marvel comics has been doing this for decades before you guys started crying 'woke' about everything and characters like Miles Morales and many others are very popular. But more so you need to prove just staying with the same characters over decades would have been more popular.
And moreso, i again say why should any one who owns the content GAF what you or i, specifically want? If you own something you get to do what you want with it.
If it's business 101, why are so many woke oriented projects failingI did not say that but you would have to be daft to not understand that Hollywood (and TV), for over 100 years specifically their material to 'white people' and mostly 'males'. that simply is undeniable. Just as Bollywood panders to most Indian males first and then indian females second.
And just as you see in Hollywood (tv) as the audience changes (more PoC, more women buyers, more chinese buyers) they then start tailoring a bigger portion of their material to what those audiences prefer, you have also seen that in Bollywood as they realize more people outside Bollywood are watching some of their material.
You have to be a simpleton to not recognize this is Business 101. Is it racist to say a Beer manufacturer will consider 'race' and what certain communities tend to prefer if they want to make a beer to appeal to a certain group in the hope of getting increased sales?
I guess a dumb person would say it was.
the dumb person is one who can only relate to characters the same race as him, the dumb person is the writer whose characters are so poorly written that they have no relatable qualities about themselves other than the color of their skin.I did not say that but you would have to be daft to not understand that Hollywood (and TV), for over 100 years specifically their material to 'white people' and mostly 'males'. that simply is undeniable. I don't want woke shit either. You are like the woke world version of comical Ali from the Iraq war
Trying to convince everyone what they can see is happening isn't happening
By and large the vast majority don't won't woke shite entertainment
But to some of you that is a rejection of your political world view
So you have to constantly and aggressively fight against it
You're convincing no one
the dumb person is one who can only relate to characters the same race as him, the dumb person is the writer whose characters are so poorly written that they have no relatable qualities about themselves other than the color of their skin.
india is not a diverse country at all, if you are going to make a movie there everyone will be indian. Your just projecting your own racist beliefs onto everyone else."...Waaaaa Bollywood should not cast mostly Indian characters and do content mostly catered to that audience because if they were not dumb they would realize none of that matters...waaaa"
oh wait. You are the dumb one as almost 200 years of film, tv and music tells us certain groups PREFER certain elements and can be pandered and catered to, in order to get them to buy more even if you have a woke view of the world that tells you otherwise.
Fact is you will sell more country music in the South per capita than in the 'hood', and you will sell more rap in the hood than in the south.
Bollywood SPECIFICALLY starting casting some more white and other nationalities in some of their movies as they realized they were attracting a bigger fan base. You see the same in Korean film now.india is not a diverse country at all, if you are going to make a movie there everyone will be indian. Your just projecting your own racist beliefs onto everyone else.
I am a french ass whitey and my favorite fictional character since I was kid was Spawn a black guy. When I was a kid I was totally obsessed. I never cared about his race.
Those countries are racist as fuck have you ever been to any of them ?Bollywood SPECIFICALLY starting casting some more white and other nationalities in some of their movies as they realized they were attracting a bigger fan base. You see the same in Korean film now.
So you need to lecture them that race should NEVER matter and NEVER be a consideration.
Hurry go tell them they are wrong.
