Is Tom too much of a boring British bloke to be popular?

I've been trying to figure out why Tom Aspinall isn’t more of a star or doesn’t have as devoted a fanbase as some other champs or stars. He’s a heavyweight who knocks people out in a couple minutes, he’s got a decent social media game, and he seems like a genuinely nice guy. So why isn’t he as popular as Pereira?

It’s probably because he’s boring. He’s British but not a loudmouth, which seems to be a necessity in the UFC if you’re from the British Isles. The UFC just doesn’t know how to promote him.

He’s a pasty, flabby-ish, nice-enough British man with shitty tats. The UFC would probably have preferred he came from the Amazon instead.

Doesn't he do prank videos on YouTube? Do those get good views?
Tom is a dedicated seller of shoes!

Horrible thread. And he has more Insta followers than all HWs, except for BB, who's been in the UFC much longer.

He's never even defended the undisputed title before thanks to Jones. Hopefully he still has plenty of time to break and obliterate the UFC HW title defense record. If he does, he'll be even bigger.

I can’t think of one British athlete that’s ever taken with the American public.

Not in a viral way

Maybe Beckham? And that wasn’t because he was such a great soccer player

I don’t think we like Brit’s that much. They talk weird

Conor's Irish but he certainly talks funny and has/had a big fanbase in the States.

he's from the north, more so lancastrian.

personalities from there just aren't usually built to be marketable for their values and traditions just are different.

he doesn't have to be anything outside of himself to grow in popularity as when he inevitably beats Gane he will gain traction in the media and realistically elevate himself intelligently to gain strong social footing for 32 is young in HW years and not being delayed by JJ therefore more active will mean he will be more publicised as a result.
