Even if you don't, in the long run it's better to not be a complete fat ass.
Wendler said it himself that there are a lot worse goals people could be striving for than to not look like a fat slob. Should they discontinue all quests for strength to get the all important visible abs...no.
There seems to be a gap forming between those who want to get strong and maintain their weight and those who believe all forms of weight cutting are "for the gheys," and the answer for everyone is to eat more and not worry at all about their weight as long as they get stronger.
I find that the middle ground is best in these circumstances. Should an 18yo kid who is 170lb's eat a ton if he is trying to get strong, probably. Should I, a moderately big (weak for my size) 6'2 225 eat everything I can get my hands on, probably not.
